Assistant Director of Nursing
Principal Accountabilities:
- Coordinate, manage, assignment and oversight over all care and services rendered to patients, caregivers and families including but not limited to federal regulations and their state equivalents.
- The Assistant Director of Nursing ensures the clinical team andRegistered Nurses abide by the Hospice Item Set care requirements and documentation timeline
- Understands, participates, educates and implements the tasks, care and services related to Patient Care including but not limited to the following
- Coordinates scheduling of team members to assure appropriate levels of care and to assure that all visits are completed.
- Assures that all staff adheres to documentation guidelines for accuracy, quality, content, and timeliness; assures that charts are properly maintained.
- Assures that staff is familiar with appropriate policies, procedures and guidelines and is kept informed of changes.
- Implements team building and staff support activities.
- Responds promptly to any patient/family issues and takes appropriate action.
- Assist in the Coordination (IDG/IDT) Interdisciplinary Group meetings.
- As a member of the site leadership team, participates in providing orientation, education, leadership, coaching, accountability and mentoring to program staff.
- Assures that patients and staff are certified and re-certified appropriately.
- Participates in QAPI activities and assures QAPI reports are submitted in accordance with company policies.
- Delivers direct patient care and performs admissions and pronouncements as necessary.
- Monitors patient care costs and staffing model to assure compliance with budget.
- Has a duty to detect, when reasonable, and report any potential misconduct or violation of Hospice Standards of Conduct or federal or state laws and regulations.
- Responds promptly to regulatory surveys.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Meets all stated and federal regulations for Director of Nursing
- Valid RN license in GA
- CPR Certified
- Two years of hospice director of nursing experience or equivalent preferred. With background in Care Management.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in nursing, highly desirable.
- Knowledge and expertise in the governmental regulations related to hospice as a whole including documentation standards, conditions of participation and the various hospice disciplines.
- Highly organized, able to handle multiple and shifting assignments and present a professional image.
- Strong team building and leadership skills.
- Reliable transportation, current driver's license, and current auto insurance.
- Must pass the following including but not limited to a background check, OIG exclusions check, license verification, reference check and review of social media.
- Must pass drug screen if requested, background check, and comply with all state and federal requirements.
- Knowledge of pain and symptom control related to terminally ill patients.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality guidelines.
