Primary Purpose of this Job

ATI Forged Products is currently looking for an Electrical Control Technician at our East Hartford, CT facility. The Electrical Control Technician's primary focus is troubleshooting and conducting repairs of all programmable/hardwired logic devices of industrial CNC control equipment. This individual will provide technical support on issues dealing with programmable logic controllers, programmable automation controllers, AC drives as well as implement and expedite general maintenance repairs to CNC machines and facilities within the policies and procedures of the EH&S and Maintenance departments.

Essential Functions (other duties may be assigned)

• Maintain and repair machine control systems for CNCs, and other equipment with the goal of eliminating unplanned downtime.
• Perform and document inspections, routine maintenance, and modifications on control system components per preventive maintenance plan or assigned work orders.
• Conduct mechanical and electrical repairs to machining centers and manufacturing equipment as needed.
• Interface with other resources of the organization to maintain and improve machine operating parameters.
• Support machine controls and assure they are in compliance with environmental health and safety regulations as determined by EH&S.
• Apply programing updates and revisions to PLC applications throughout the plant and maintain a revision/change log.
• Provide equipment operating procedures for new or modified control systems.
• Consult and communicate with department managers to plan and schedule downtime as needed.
• Recommend improvements that lead to greater equipment reliability.
• Collect data on equipment to be able to analyze down-time history.
• Devise methods of altering machinery and equipment to improve operating characteristics.
• Work with QA, MFG, and CT to maintain trouble-free equipment.
• Fabrication and rebuilding of various mechanical assemblies
• Check machine accuracy and adjust accordingly.
