POSITION DESCRIPTION
We are seeking an Associate Director of College Counseling to join an experienced, forward thinking, and student-centered team of four, including support from a Registrar/Assistant to College Counseling. This is a full-time, 12-month position with a flexible summer schedule. As part of a highly collaborative team, the Associate Director will counsel and support students with an approximate caseload of 30-35 students in each class. The College Counseling Office is committed to empathetic and enthusiastic advocacy for our students and families in all aspects of post-secondary planning. Our team embraces the work of Challenge Success and is committed to building a culture of inclusivity, balance, and wellness for all students.
Primary responsibilities for this position include advising and supporting students and their parents/guardians in all aspects of the college search and application process. This includes meeting with students individually and in small groups, writing letters of recommendations, and taking part in department efforts to present college admission programming for each grade level. At the core of this position is the ability to build successful relationships with students, families, and colleges and universities.
It is important that candidates possess a high standard of professionalism with a focus on creating uplifting, and trusting working relationships marked by humor, optimism, humility, empathy, and strong interpersonal skills. Three to five years of experience in college admissions and/or college counseling with knowledge of the college admission process is preferred.
Successful candidates will contribute strengths and skills as well as a willingness to embrace continued growth as part of a dynamic and dedicated team. Additionally, we seek candidates with demonstrated awareness of and commitment to cultural competence, an appreciation for the joys and challenges of working with high school students, excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively with technology.BENEFITS, COMPENSATION, PROFESSIONAL GROWTH & COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENTAthenian provides excellent benefits and salaries are competitive and commensurate with work experience and education. The salary range for this position is $95,000 - $130,000. Community members enjoy meals on campus and use of athletics facilities, including a pool, gym and fitness center.
All employees participate in school wide professional development, and have the opportunity to pursue a range of additional professional growth opportunities. These include, but are not limited to, funded participation in professional conferences and continuing education opportunities. Athenian provides needed training for CPR/AED certification.
All employees are expected to attend all-school functions relevant to their role and to participate in supporting the student experience with other school duties as requested by their direct supervisor.
