Position or Title: Teacher
Supervisor: Principal or Program Administrator
Qualifications
An individual must also successfully pass a criminal background check, including state, regional and/or federal fingerprint background checks and submit to drug testing as required periodically or randomly. First Aid and CPR certification is preferred for all positions. Teachers must hold or be actively working towards a valid Utah educator’s license with appropriate position-specific education endorsement(s).
Education Required
Bachelor’s degree and Utah Teaching license and/or be able to obtain a Utah teaching license in the process of working as a teacher with the school.
Essential Job Functions
1. Plan and implement a program of instruction for multi-grade classrooms that, while demonstrating a strong grasp of all core subject matter, adhere to Charter philosophy, goals, and objectives as outlined in the academic program and the Utah State Core.
2. Keep an accurate, up-to-date record of student performance and progress throughout the year, and meet with parents and communicate with others as needed, assigned, or requested.
3. Accommodate students with IEPs as required and recognize learning problems making referrals as appropriate.
4. Oversee and assess instructors, aides, support personnel and other staff working under the direction of the teacher, including 3rd party entities and volunteers.
5. Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job. Ensure that student, staff and family privacy is maintained by withholding any and all personal information on any person(s) from unauthorized recipients.
6. Contribute to a positive work and school environment by maintaining a positive, pleasant demeanor in all situations and communications.
7. Attend staff development activities and seminars to enrich job skills and abilities as assigned by the administration and attend all required meetings and events as communicated by supervisors and as outlined in company policies and manuals.
8. Develop, in accordance with Charter guidelines and policy, reasonable rules of classroom behavior and appropriate techniques that are consistently applied.
9. Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
10. Ensure school safety by assisting with fire drills and other emergency response drills.
11. Keep educators’ licenses and endorsements up-to-date and applicable to assignments.
12. Perform other duties which may develop or as requested by the Governing Board, Director or Principal and/or the Business Manager.
Physical Requirements
The Essential Job Functions present no physical risks or hazardous conditions outside of typical risks and conditions customary to a job of this type. The Essential Job Functions typically require the following:
Carrying, lifting, pulling (10lbs.- 100lbs. ) 10%
Walking/sitting/other 90%
