POSITION SUMMARY:

We are currently recruiting for a Warehouse Worker. The Warehouse Worker is responsible for packing and shipping customer orders, warehouse stock maintenance, performing inventory counts, loading, and unloading trucks, and related duties as assigned. This FULL-TIME position starts at $17 per hour and is located in South Chesterfield, VA.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Inventory Management: Maintaining accurate records of incoming and outgoing inventory, including materials and equipment used in road maintenance and construction projects.
  • Order Picking and Packing: Fulfilling orders by accurately picking items from inventory and packing them securely for shipment to various VDOT locations.
  • Loading and Unloading: Safely and efficiently loading and unloading trucks with incoming and outgoing shipments, ensuring proper handling and placement of materials.
  • Material Handling: Organizing and storing materials in designated warehouse locations, utilizing appropriate equipment such as forklifts or pallet jacks as needed.
  • Quality Control: Inspecting incoming materials for damage or defects, and ensuring that outgoing shipments meet quality standards and are properly labeled.
  • General Maintenance: Keeping the warehouse clean, organized, and free of hazards, including routine maintenance of equipment and storage areas.
  • Participate in developing department goals, objectives, and systems.
  • Participate in staff meetings and attend other meetings and seminars as assigned.
  • Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures, to continually improve efficiency of the department and services performed.
  • Efficiently performs duties as assigned and works as a team within division and company.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

· Must be able to lift/handle heavy objects up to 75 pounds.

· Ability to climb up and down ladders.

· Knowledge of and /or experience in warehouse operations such as order filling and stocking.

· Experienced forklift operator or the ability to obtain a forklift certification.

· Ability to use computers and hand-held scanners.

· Must have good mathematical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills within the English language.
  • Proven, high quality customer service (internal and external customers).
  • Ability to work collaboratively.
  • Solid ability to analyze situations carefully and adopt appropriate courses of action.
  • Ability to understand and adhere to the duties, methods, and procedures required by the position.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to effectively communicate to large and small group audiences.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, required.
  • Valid DL
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift and move up to 25 pounds at times.
  • Standard hours of work Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.
  • Travel may be required up to 10% of the time.
