At Home is Hiring an Electrical Technician Near Dallas, TX

Job Summary 

As an Electrical Technician, you will be responsible for providing electrical maintenance, repairs, and installations at our various retail locations. This is a traveling position, and you will be required to travel up to 80% of the time to ensure that our stores receive prompt electrical support when needed. Your expertise will contribute to creating a safe and efficient environment for both our employees and customers. 

Key Roles & Responsibilities: 

  • Provide technical leadership, expertise and hands-on support for industrial electrical systems (3 phase 480/240/208 and single phase120/low voltage) and machine process (PLC) controls.
  • Communicate current issues to crew leadership (e.g., personnel productivity, cost reduction, safety, machine reliability and efficiency).
  • Ensure compliance with all safety-related requirements and policies.
  • Read and develop blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematic drawings and engineering instructions for instrumentation and automation projects.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of all work areas.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair machines, equipment, fixtures, air, plumbing, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Troubleshooting and repair of electrical equipment (lighting, motors, MCC panels, overload protection devices, etc.) and systems programming PLC systems, with emphasis on Allen-Bradley, Eaton, and Square D systems.
  • Manage Computerized Maintenance Management Software (CMMS) System
  • Travel to different retail locations within our company enterprise to perform electrical maintenance, repairs, and installations.
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards or issues and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Troubleshoot electrical problems, diagnose faults, and implement effective repair strategies.
  • Install, repair, and maintain lighting systems, power outlets, electrical panels, and other electrical equipment as required.
  • Collaborate with store managers and other team members to ensure electrical systems are in compliance with safety regulations and meet operational needs.
  • Keep detailed records of work performed, including maintenance schedules, repairs, and replacements.
  • Provide training and guidance to store personnel regarding electrical safety measures and protocols

Qualifications & Competencies:

  • Journeyman electrician
  • Travel 80% of time as needed where needed on jobsites.
  • Installation experience in a retail setting preferred.
  • Experienced in safety-related practices and OSHA/MSHA compliance requirements, such as Lockout-Tagout, Electrical Safety, Arc Flash Hazards, Fall Protection, Hazard Communication, etc.
  • Highly disciplined and motivated self-starter with excellent communication (verbal and written) skills, analytical and problem-solving skills, and a strong work ethic.
  • Well-rounded in working with PLC software and hardware. 
  • Work extended work schedules, including weekends and overtime as needed.
  • Familiar with predictive maintenance and continuous improvement concepts.
  • Mobile equipment operation skills

  • Pass toxicity test
  • Team-oriented, effective communicator (verbal and written), able to offer technical expertise and guidance, and have the ability and willingness to build rapport with team members and external agencies.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and set priorities appropriately.
  • Willingness to further training or education, if requested.
  • Experienced in safety-related practices and OSHA/MSAH compliance requirements.
  • Current computer applications knowledge, including word processing and spreadsheets.
  • Ability to work independently and objectively.
  • Communication skills, including oral, written, and electronic.
  • Proficient with Windows-based programs computer operating systems, specifically Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
  • Lift up to 100 pounds, use their hands to handle, control, or feel, objects, tools, or controls, stand for long periods of time, bend or twist their body, repeat the same movements, kneel, stoop, crouch, or crawl, walk or run for long periods of time.
  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
  • Certified Electrician or relevant electrical trade certification.
  • Proven experience as an Electrician, preferably in a retail or commercial environment.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, and components.
  • Proficient in reading blueprints, electrical diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Ability to travel extensively and work independently at various locations.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to adhere to safety guidelines.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid driver's license.
