ASWC is Hiring a Temporary Account Analyst (5B.24) Near BIG BEAR, CA

Bear Valley Electric Service has served the Big Bear Valley since 1929. Today, we provide electric power to approximately 24,750 customers. We serve a resort community with a mix of full-time and part-time residents. These 23,250 residents represent more than 93 percent of our customers. We also serve approximately 1,500 commercial, industrial and public authority customers, including the Bear Mountain and Snow Summit ski resorts. Bear Valley Electric Service has implemented a comprehensive wildfire mitigation program, inserted cutting edge technology into all aspects of its business and operations and is aggressively pursuing a greener energy supply portfolio and a sweeping electrification strategy.

THIS POSITION REQUIRES RESIDENCY IN OUR SERVICE AREA

POSITION DEFINITION: Temporary Account Analyst

The Temporary Account Analyst performs a variety of routine and complex activities in support of Bear Valley Electric Service, Inc. (“BVES”).Typical duties include reconciling capital project Work Orders, creating journal entries for purposes related to Work Orders, producing and analyzing financial reports, organizing and maintaining files, and verifying information and data for compliance with policy and procedures including Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·Performs routine and complex activities, often of a confidential nature, in such areas as budgeting and budgetary analysis, account analysis, payroll analysis, and coordinated reports with parent Company accounting.

·Prepares source documents and data entry for accounts payable, contracts, and payroll as it relates to Work Orders (WOs).

·Reconciles and assembles WO closing packets.

·Creates journal entries to record WO closing, and unitizes retirements and assets into the company accounting system.

·Generates enterprise system and Excel financial reports as they relate to capital projects for management review including Capital Work in Progress (CWIP), flags WOs and Funding Projects actual expenditures approaching authorized budget, and makes recommendations to avoid over spending capital budgets.

·Closely monitors Advice Letter capital projects and calculates Allowance for Funds Used During Construction (AFUDC).

·Organizes quarterly CWIP meeting and prepares summary results of meeting.

·Analyzes monthly capital expenditures and prepares monthly and quarterly variance reports for management review.

·Responsible for monitoring compliance with existing internal control procedures.

·Responsible for accuracy of A/P transactions as they relate to WOs.

·Responds to internal and external audit requests.Interfaces with internal auditor(s), independent auditors and other agencies as necessary.

·Develops responses and reports and puts together supporting accounting documents in response to regulatory Data Requests as issued by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC).

·Supports preparation of accounting reports with Company Board meetings.

·Responsible for following through to completion on all job responsibilities and elevating any issues to management for timely resolution.

·Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

·High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance is preferred.

·Minimum of three years of experience in accounting or finance is required. Experience in utility, construction, and/or project accounting is preferred.

·Demonstrated knowledge and experience in account analysis and general accounting principles.

·Must have strong computer skills including being proficient in Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook.Spreadsheet skills should be advanced.

·Experience with enterprise and asset management systems such as J.D. Edwards Enterprise One system and PowerPlan, preferred.

COMPENSATION INFORMATION

The compensation range provided is in compliance with state specific laws. Multiple factors are used to determine the actual starting rate of pay for all of our positions, including specific skills, years of experience, education, certification(s), and other job related factors.
