Job Description: As an Addiction Counselor at Asurgent Health, you will play a pivotal role in helping individuals and families on their journey to recovery from substance use disorders. You will work within a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals and be responsible for providing compassionate and evidence-based counseling services to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

Assessment and Treatment Planning: Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients' addiction issues, mental health status, and related needs. Develop individualized treatment plans that address specific goals and objectives.

Individual Counseling: Provide one-on-one counseling sessions to clients, utilizing evidence-based therapeutic techniques to address addiction issues, co-occurring disorders, and mental health concerns.

Group Therapy: Lead or co-facilitate group therapy sessions, promoting a supportive and therapeutic environment for clients to share their experiences and work on their recovery together.

Education and Support: Educate clients and their families about addiction, recovery strategies, and coping mechanisms. Offer guidance and support to family members affected by addiction.

Case Management: Collaborate with the treatment team to coordinate care and ensure that clients receive a holistic approach to treatment. Monitor progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.

Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records, including treatment plans, progress notes, and other necessary documentation in compliance with legal and ethical standards.

Crisis Intervention: Provide crisis intervention and support when necessary, addressing any emergent issues that may arise during the course of treatment.

Continuing Education: Stay informed about current trends, research, and best practices in addiction counseling through ongoing professional development and training opportunities.

Team Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues, including psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care for clients.

Qualifications:

  • Current state licensure or certification as an addiction counselor or therapist.
  • Experience working in addiction treatment settings, preferably in outpatient and PHP levels of care.
  • Strong understanding of evidence-based treatment modalities for addiction.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
