Purpose
Responsible for safely operating Unitrans vehicles in daily operation.
The successful candidate may hold this position through the expected graduation date (no sooner than Fall 2025) based on satisfactory performance in the position.
Based on significant training requirements, Unitrans will only accept applicants that will be at UC Davis for at least one year from the projected start date.
The student in the role of Transit Driver will be expected to follow the Unitrans Code of Conduct, complying to Unitrans policies, and upholding the Principles of Community.

Position is expected to start June 2024, completing in-person training through the summer to be ready to drive Fall 2024!

Duties

- Maintain safe and reliable transit operations
- Operate Unitrans vehicles in both regular and charter services
- Responsible for taking fares, issuing transfers, tend to customer service questions about routes, schedule, fares etc.
- Maintain on-time performance and keep accurate passenger counts
Skills
A. Ability to exercise a high degree of individual responsibility.
B. Ability to effectively interact with individuals with diverse backgrounds, skills, and abilities.
D. Must obtain a class B commercial license with passenger endorsement (all necessary training is paid for and provided).
E. Required to work the designated minimum hours as defined by the Transit Driver Manager
F. Required to work 1-3 on-call hours per quarter
