We currently have an immediate full-time position opening for a Buyer located in City of Industry, California.

Job Summary:

Buyer is responsible for purchasing raw materials used in production and third party products for resale. Buyer is also responsible for reconciling shortage reports, receiving deviation reports and inventory counts. Buyer prepares purchase schedule on a weekly basis and places orders with vendors. Buy requests price quotations and conducts vendor surveys. Buyer follows up with vendors prior to and after placing of orders and anticipated shipping dates. Buyer meets regularly with production scheduler to review anticipated production and report projected delays in parts deliveries. Buyer meets regularly with warehouse manager to verify accuracy of shortage reports.

Essential Functions:

Receiving

• Prepare weekly schedule of projected vendor deliveries
• Communicate projected delivery schedule to warehouse and production
• Follow up with vendors the day before the orders are to be received to confirm delivery schedule
• Reconcile daily receiving reports with schedule of projected deliveries
• Review daily receiving deviation reports and generate action plan to resolve deviations
• Contact vendors on same day the receiving deviations are reported

Inventory and WIP Shortages

• Update the inventory and WIP shortage reports on a daily basis
• Reconcile the shortage reports with the warehouse and production floor supervisors
• Follow up with vendors for the replenishment of the shortages
• Present update shortage reports to production planner on a daily basis

 Scheduling Purchases

• Review the production schedule on a weekly basis
• Review the Parts Requisition forms on a daily basis
• Update weekly list of orders to be placed and submit to VP Operations for review
• Generate weekly list of orders to be placed for the following week and submit to VP

Operations for review

• Place orders for the week
• Follow up with vendors after placing orders to confirm receipt of our order and delivery date
• Follow up with vendors before the anticipated ship date to confirm order is shipping on time
• Immediately inform production scheduler of any delays in deliveries
• Immediately inform VP Operations of any vendor holds that are delaying placement of orders or delivery of orders
• Prepare weekly report of orders placed for the week and submit to VP Operations

 Price Reduction

• Update BOM in ERP system with every new release from engineering
• Obtain quote requests from 3 different vendors for components
• Request new quotes from vendors when purchased quantities increase by 20% or more
• Make sure costs of components in BOM and ERP are updated whenever a price change takes effect with our vendors
• Submit any price change information from vendors to VP Operations

 Vendor File Management

• Maintain a file for each vendor
• Archive all quotations requests sent to and received from vendor
• Archive all purchase orders sent to vendor
• Archive all performance surveys conducted for vendor
• Archive minutes of meetings held with vendor representatives

 Vendor Evaluation

• Conduct performance surveys for each vendor
• Measure the on-time delivery for each vendor
• Measure the reject rate for each vendor

 Education and Experience:

• Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school
• 6 months to 1 year related experience and/or training; or
• Equivalent combination of education and experience.
