As a Director of RWDS, you will be an analytic researcher informing and conducting RWD studies at any time in the drug lifecycle. You will work globally and across the product lifecycle to inform strategy, support Life Cycle Management, patient diversity and recruitment, design of trials and trial alternatives.
You will work directly with the RWDS team to execute observational studies for internal and external consumption and partner closely with Development, Medical Affairs/HEOR, and Pharmacovigilance/Pharmacoepidemiology colleagues in their research. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with internal RWDS, Data Science and Biostatistics teams to enhance our RWD and analytics offerings.
Key Responsibilities:
Program and analyze observational studies using (mostly in-house) RWD
Advise as subject matter expert in specific data access partnerships
Offer methodological guidance to clients on the integration of data from clinical progress notes, Electronic Health Records (EHRs), genomic sequencing
Support macro programming development for RWD studies
Participate in the creation and upkeep of best practices and data standards at Astellas
Collaborate with RWDS, Data Science and Biostatistics colleagues and cross-functional teams in Development, Medical Affairs/HEOR and Pharmacovigilance / Pharmacoepidemiology
Mentor and guide junior members of the RWD Analytics team
Qualifications:
A doctorate or master's degree in statistics, data science, pharmacoepidemiology or a similar discipline
More than 8 years of pharmaceutical industry hands-on experience in programming / analyzing RWD, including major EHR and claims databases (US, UK, EU, Japan)
Hands-on experience in programming and analyzing a diverse set of RWD study types (description, association, prediction, causation), including incidence & prevalence, treatment pattern, healthcare resource utilization, cost, outcomes, and effectiveness
Proficiency in SAS or R required, with working knowledge of Python or SQL beneficial
Proficiency in observational research design for primary data collection (i.e., prospective) as well as secondary use of data studies
Well-versed in data visualization, statistical analysis, and machine learning methodologies
Committed to seeking innovative methodology to generate data-driven insights
Self-starting performer with a strategic mindset and the demonstrated capacity to operate both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting
