Astec Industries is Hiring a Director, Global Logistics Near Chattanooga, TN

This position is responsible for the leadership, strategy development, execution and optimization of Logistics services and expenditures. This position will integrate closely with the businesses to foster a culture of executing on customer satisfaction, cost, quality and efficiency improvements, and assure supplier performance to provide exceptional value to Astec. A key success factor is being able to clearly articulate the Logistic vision and influence the organization. Value contribution will be a major contributor to the strategic goals of sourcing & supply chain and contribution to the company’s performance and bottom-line results.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 
  • Develop, communicate, and lead the strategic vision of Global Logistic procurement both inbound/outbound, while aligning with company strategies; including the roadmap/priorities and competencies needed to sustain and build out the future of the team.
  • Owner of the Oracle/TMS transformation initiative for the organization; including but not limited to the process ownership, adoption, efficiency capture, and change management over the duration of the project.
  • Benchmark leading best practices from inside and outside of Astec for implementation and adoption, including current process refinement.
  • Recruit and retain a strong integrated team aligned with our strategic roadmap with Subject Matter Experts
  • Facilitate the collective team’s ability to manage projects to specification and cost parameters on a timely basis.
  • Develop key relationships with internal and external stakeholders to gain full alignment with category strategies and business objectives.
  • Proactively support active Business Unit and Executive leaders by serving as a resource to help identify opportunities and drive results.
  • Facilitate change management with cross-functional teams and key contacts throughout the organization
  • Optimize and maintain scalable/sustainable processes to drive effective global logistics across the organization
  • Experienced developer and contributor to building, implementing, standardizing and enforcing procurement department policies and procedures.
  • Provide direction and support to the logistics procurement process to ensure the proper due diligence and integration activities are complete prior to long-term master contracts.
  • Prepare and lead significant supplier/Contract negotiations and Manage portfolio of commercial contracts and vendor relationships; may include Development of RFP’s, negotiate new supply contracts and select and develop relationships with key suppliers.
  • Perform periodic supplier audits to ensure quality, on-time delivery, total cost of ownership and continuous supplier base improvement.
  • Track key metrics and measure to gauge the success of the logistics function
  • Assimilate, report and speak regularly to management and others about strategy, and major initiatives.
  • Be a strong contributor to the budgeting process initially and throughout the year by comparing actual to budget and providing projections and run rates to management.
  • Work closely with the Operational and Material Planning organizations to ensure alignment and effective execution of the agreed strategies.
  • Research and understand the market conditions, advances in technology, supplier performance and economic forecasts. Keep Business informed regarding economic conditions, market conditions, lead times and shifts in pricing. Professionally resolve problems (both internal and external) in a fair and ethical manner while protecting the long-term interests of the Company.
  • Ensures that the highest standards of professional integrity and ethics are maintained.
  • Ensuring the compliance with all statutory, regulatory, and legal requirements as well as company policies
LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES Directly manages global category leaders and logistic team members, annual spend responsibility of approximately $50M - $100M.QUALIFACTIONS – KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • In depth knowledge and experience of Logistic processes and best practices
  • Understanding of processes involved in Source to Pay, Procure to Pay; Experience in working with ERP, deployment of ERP, specific to Oracle (OTM)
  • Demonstrated success in formulating strategic sourcing strategies, developing and maintaining effective relationships with key suppliers, and establishing effective processes and methods of ensuring satisfactory supplier performance
  • Experience in identifying business opportunities that maximize profitability
  • Experience in selecting, leading and ensuring desired outcome with external resource management.
  • Experience in leading through influence without reliance on reporting lines and in a matrix organization.
  • Demonstrated success in leveraging global spends across the enterprise
  • Strong leadership and Organizational skills
  • Highly self-motivated to develop strategic, tactical and operational direction
  • Ability to provide responsive support to business units and accomplish corporate initatives
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to facilitate change management with colleagues and key contacts
  • Strong data analytical, financial and research capabilities, proven problem-solving and decision making skills.
  • Excellent and proven negotiation skills, master at spend segmentation, global and strategic category management and risk management
  • Ability to read, understand and write legally binding contracts.
  • Culturally aware and proven emotional intelligence to guide thinking and behavior
  • Travel 25-30%; Remote work arrangement, periodically up to 50%
KNOWLEDGEABLE IN THE FOLLOWING SOURCING AREAS:

  • Fleet ownership
EXPERIENCE:
  • 12 years’ progressive experience in Logistics Sourcing for large global/multinational, process driven companies, building and optimizing programs across diverse teams and cultures
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
EDUCATION:
  • BS or BA degree required and preferred in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or related field.
  • ASCM or APICS certification as CSCP, CPIM, CLTD,ISM certification, desired
