ABOUT THE POSITIONThe CAD Administrator’s role is to ensure the stable operation of in-house CAD software within Astec. This includes developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all CAD installations across the enterprise. The role will help promote and ensure global standards in CAD. The position will also analyze and resolve user CAD program issues in a timely and accurate fashion. 
Location: This is an onsite position, at any of our Astec US locations - Chattanooga-TN, Parsons-KS, Blair-NE, Burlington-WI, Sterling-IL, Yankton-SD or Eugene-OR.
Key Activities & Responsibilities
  • Administer and maintain CAD information repository database.
  • Recommend strategies for document management as it relates to CAD user outputs, including collection, revision, and archiving.
  • Recommend server storage space allotments, resource reservations, and directory assistance.
  • Implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and associated plans for CAD software administration and appropriate use.
  • Assist in migration projects to newer versions of CAD applications.
  • Install, configure, manage, and administer CAD software, related hardware, and any other corresponding IT assets to ensure trouble-free operation by CAD users.
  • Establish service level agreements with CAD users and provide on-call technical support for these users.
  • Schedule and perform software improvements and upgrades.
  • Ensures that hardware (Servers and Computers) standards are set and followed and that hardware issues are supported.
  • Conduct research on new and emerging CAD technologies or technologies that can be leveraged through existing CAD investments. Attend seminars and receive training, as necessary.
  • Identify and resolve system issues.
To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are:
  • Bachelor’s degree in the field of computer science, engineering, or related degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2 years direct experience operating, programming, and administrating CAD and PDM applications (i.e. Autodesk, SolidWorks, etc.)
  • Proven experience in overseeing the direction, development, and implementation of CAD and PDM software solutions.
  • Microsoft .NET programming experience is preferred.
  • Microsoft SQL Server experience is preferred.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Experience at a publicly traded company and SOX compliance is preferred.
  • Ability to build relationships with people at all levels, including executive management.
  • Must be able to train people.
  • Demonstrated project management skills is required.
  • Strong knowledge of system and software quality assurance best practices and methodologies
  • Attention to detail is required.
  • Must be highly self-motivated.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is required.
  • Domestic and International travel is required, up to 5%, heavier during CAD Administrator Position project implementations.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision is required.
  • Must be able to solve problems at both a strategic and functional level.
  • Must be able to organize and manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills are required.
  • Must be able to work satisfactorily as a team member.
  • Ability to effectively speak publicly and make presentations is required.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals is required.
