What can I expect in this role?

AST is seeking an experienced Machinist to join our assembly and manufacturing team. As a integral part of our team, this role will machine a variety of parts; from plastics and metals that meet our stringent tolerances and standards. You will have responsibility over multiple machines, tooling, and inventory, to provide quick responses to the needs of the business. The Machinist will report to the Manufacturing Supervisor and is a full-time position, located onsite in Tacoma, Washington.

What will I be doing?

• Program and machine all parts on a CNC Mill & Lathe.
• Operate conventional lathe and mill.
• Provide expertise to solve problems in conjunction with co-workers.
• Operate independently to meet required deadlines.
• Able to machine parts accurately and quickly from engineered drawings.
• Maintain a clean and organized work and material storage area on a daily basis.
• Manage inventory levels and tooling required for job requirements.
• Maintenance of our machine shop equipment.
• Organize and store machining fixtures for future use.
• Willing to work overtime and Saturdays to meet customer deadlines.
• Up to 30% light assembly work as needed.
• Other tasks as assigned by the manager.

What experience is AST looking for?

• 5 years of experience as an intermediate machinist and comparable skill.
• Self-motivated, energetic, dependable, honest, and thorough.

• Ability to change direction and handle multiple responsibilities and tasks.
• Desire to positively motivate coworkers and team members.

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

• Strong mechanical aptitude.
