The SVP of Property & Casualty Claims is a dynamic and unique opportunity to shape the future of Assurant’s Housing Claims Operations.

This role is multifaceted encompassing digital transformation, fostering an environment of superior customer service, adherence to regulatory compliance standards, and fostering a high-performing team and people-first culture of trust and accountability.

The role reports to the COO and is a member of the Operations Leadership Team, as well as the extended Global Leadership Team.

As an advisor and partner to key business executives; you will be accountable for developing a Claims operations strategy while planning objectives in support of the company’s strategy in alignment with specific employee, customer, financial, and quality metrics / goals.

As an expert in P&C lines, this leader will play a critical role in developing our Claims operations across the US while delivering optimal services to our policyholders.

This is a remote opportunity with a key focus surrounding our primary locations such as Atlanta, GA, Houston, TX, Springfield, OH, and Miami, FL.

What will my duties and responsibilities be in this job?Accountable for developing the Claims Operations Strategy to support Assurant’s strategy and align with specific employee, customer, financial, and quality metrics.

Lead claim management team for multiple lines of business within the P&C Claims operation and ensure proper implementation of claims procedures and controls.

Provide transformative leadership building a high-performing team of claims professionals, compliance specialists, digital innovators & customer service professionals in a collaborative and innovative culture that is focused on customer centricity and employee development.

Identify opportunities for operational cost reduction through process automation while maintaining or enhancing service quality.

Utilize data analytics and predictive modeling to optimize claims handling, automate processes, and make informed, compliant, customer-centric decisions.

Designs and champions claim servicing solutions across process, technology, workforce, third party, and analytics in support of P&C product competitiveness.

Collaborates with internal partners and external vendors to build supporting capabilities and deliver on shared accountabilities.

Establish and monitor KPIs and metrics to evaluate the success of digital initiatives, regulatory compliance, CX enhancements, and team performance.

Regularly communicate progress to executive leadership and stakeholders.

Drives the Ops transformation agenda incorporating industry best practices and innovation, including executing a digital-first strategy for P&C claims which incorporates leveraging new and emerging technologies to drive greater automation, enhancing the digital customer journey.

Inspires an engaged, high-performance team that delivers positive experiences to members and customers and achieves exceptional results.

Collaborate with technology vendors, Insurtech startups, and industry partners to source and implement digital solutions that align with the digital-first and regulatory compliance strategies.

Drives overall risk management and regulatory compliance through consistent frameworks and business routines. Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled by risk and compliance policies and procedures.

Mentor managers on leadership and culture to inspire teams on claims handling and standards to support customer experience and exceptional results.

Identify and orchestrate a talent mobility strategy to develop and retain talent with cross-capability and LOB knowledge.

What are the requirements needed for this position?Minimum of 15 years related experience in claims management, including significant people management and leadership experience within a complex matrixed environment.

In-depth knowledge of regulatory compliance within the insurance sector.

Ability to navigate a fast-paced environment while managing through challenging priorities.

Exceptional relationship-building experience with the ability to listen and build rapport and credibility with peers and as a partner vertically within the business unit, as well as with leadership and capability teams.

Strategic thinker with a results-oriented mindset. Able to toggle between high-level strategy development and deep dives into business issues.

Demonstrated ability to drive change, foster innovation, and inspire a diverse team in a complex organizational environment.

Lead and participate in cross-functional teams that address strategic and business projects with significant complexity and risk such as cost-saving measures, efficiencies, and regulatory and contractual requirements.

Outstanding communication, negotiation & stakeholder management skills.

Deep expertise in P & C, Insurance risk, compliance, and integrated claims management & communication leading to operational excellence.

Ability to think tactically to accomplish short-term goals, while focusing on strategic and conceptual long-term (2-5 years) planning focused on business impacts and outcomes.

Expertise in digital technologies, including data analytics, mobile applications & experience in AI-enabled capabilities.
