Association of Former Students of Texas A & M Univ is Hiring a Coordinator of Campus Programs Near College Station, TX

Description

Through our shared values and culture of professional team service, we engage and inspire the Aggie Network to support Texas Aggies and perpetuate the Aggie Spirit. We seek an individual to join a highly motivated team in selflessly advancing The Association of Former Students’ noble mission by coordinating our engagement efforts aimed at Texas A&M’s undergraduate students. The Coordinator will strategically engage students to promote the impact of The Association on Texas A&M, to create lasting awareness of The Association’s support for university programs, and to accomplish the Campus Programs mission of engaging current students and connecting them as a part of the Aggie Network.

DUTIES

Creatively seeks new ways to engage the undergraduate student body of Texas A&M and create opportunities for long-term connection with The Association of Former Students and the Aggie Network:

  • Coordinates all undergraduate-focused events to accomplish The Association’s goal of creating engagement and connection with the undergraduate population of Texas A&M.
  • In collaboration with The Association’s Events, Marketing and Communications teams, serves as the Campus Programs team lead for Ring Remembrance, scholarship events, Howdy Week, New Student Conferences and Extended Orientation. 
  • Coordinates student participation (volunteers, performers, and representatives) in Association events, including the Distinguished Alumni Gala, Orange & Maroon Legislative Day, and Pass It Back Day. 
  • Manages all volunteer logistics for the tri-annual Aggie Ring Day, including invitations, communications, training, placement and follow-up.
  • Collaborates with the Campus Programs and Fundraising teams to identify student candidates for sponsorship on Pass It Back Day.
  • In collaboration with university staff, coordinates scheduling, logistics and materials for all Association-sponsored, undergraduate-focused awards, including the Buck Weirus Spirit Award, Gathright Phi Kappa Phi Dean’s Excellence Award, Gathright Phi Kappa Phi Outstanding Junior Award, and Student Employee of the Year Award. 
  • Coordinates all undergraduate-focused outreach and accomplishes The Association’s goal to create engagement and connection with the undergraduate population of Texas A&M.
  • In collaboration with the Campus Programs team, develops and executes strategies to educate the campus community on the positive impact The Association has on Texas A&M and to create lasting awareness of The Association’s support for university programs. 
  • In collaboration with the Campus Programs team, develops and executes a strategic plan to create meaningful connection with the 1,100 student organizations at Texas A&M University.
  • Serves as The Association’s primary liaison for Family Weekend, Fish Camp, Aggie Transition Camps, Big Event and Aggie Muster Committee.
  • Builds and enhances relationships with Texas A&M’s students, faculty and staff.
  • Facilitates partnerships with student organizations to encourage co-programming opportunities.
  • Frequently speaks to various groups about The Association of Former Students and the Aggie Network. 
  • Represents The Association on university committees and working groups as needed. 
  • In collaboration with and under the direction of The Association’s Marketing and Communications teams, coordinates communications strategies aimed at the undergraduate population of Texas A&M.
  • In collaboration with The Association’s Marketing and Communications teams, provides supports for student organizations’ marketing and communication efforts, including print, display, social media and email campaigns. 
  • Under the leadership of the Director of Campus Programs, coordinates all activities, meetings, events and initiatives of the Aggie Network Student Ambassadors program.

Completes special projects as assigned:

  • Assists with the creation and execution of young alumni programming to encourage students to remain engaged with The Association after graduation.
  • Assists with the development and execution of strategies to drive increased donor participation, with a particular focus on current students and young alumni. 
  • Assists with the development, execution and reporting on an annual strategic plan that includes measurable goals and innovative strategies.
  • Assists with Aggie Ring orders as needed. 
  • Manages expense budgets as they relate to the programs and initiatives for which the Coordinator of Campus Programs is directly responsible.

Participates in and provides input on various Association-wide activities:

  • Actively contributes toward efforts to achieve our culture, engagement, and fundraising goals.
  • Provides on-site event support for Board and Leadership Council meetings.
  • Participates on internal event teams and task committees.
  • Participates in Association events, including but not limited to Aggie Muster, Aggie Ring Day, Reunions, Distinguished Alumni Gala, Pass It Back Day, All-Aggie Grad Party, and All-Aggie Hullabaloo, as needed.

Serves as an ambassador for The Association:

  • Meets our Team Expectations.
  • Supports The Association’s marketing, communications, and branding initiatives.
  • Fosters relationships with students, former students, parents, faculty, staff, and friends of Texas A&M. 
  • Attends external events in support of the Vice President of Engagement or on behalf of The Association, as directed.

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Required: Sound judgment and utmost discretion. Ability to organize concurrent projects and manage time, while working independently with minimal supervision or collaboratively with teammates, in an environment of rapid change and numerous deadlines. Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, including superior listening, public speaking and proofreading skills. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Ability to work effectively with a variety of unique personalities and individuals. Ability to interact with students, faculty and staff and develop long-lasting professional relationships. Skill at solving problems in real time while maintaining a positive attitude. Ability to use standard office equipment and software. Advanced software skills, including the Microsoft and Google suites, to perform administrative duties as required in maintaining communications, databases and spreadsheets. Ability to stand for long periods, move quickly, and carry objects up to 50 pounds when needed at events. 

Preferred: Extensive familiarity with Texas A&M and its history, traditions, and values.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Strong commitment to the mission and vision of The Association of Former Students, with the ability and desire to advocate for the organization and Texas A&M University. High energy level and intrinsic motivation. Outgoing personality with a positive and friendly attitude. Professional attire and behavior. Texas driver’s license and ability to safely operate a motor vehicle. Occasional travel, including irregular hours, overnight stays, weekends, and evenings, in support of Association events.

EXPERIENCE

Required: 1-2 years of experience in a professional business environment. Prior experience working with young adults and university officials. Good working knowledge of Texas A&M University.

Preferred: Involvement in campus activities as a student at Texas A&M. Marketing, project management, and/or event-planning experience.

EDUCATION

Required: Bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University.
