JOB SUMMARY
The Assistant Editor position manages the day-to-day production of the online ACC Docket magazine, keeping the department on task, as well as on deadline. Reporting to the editor-in-chief, the Assistant Editor solicits content, reviews proposals, edits and posts articles online, and interviews and profiles in-house counsel. This role also supports the organization’s general editorial needs.
The Assistant Editor should possess a strong digital publication background, have experience with layout and design, the ability to manage author relationships, and an understanding of how to drive reader engagement particularly in today’s scan-and-consume media ecosystem. Inherent in the position is the desire to innovate and create process improvements.
Further, this position serves as the creative force and manager of the ACC Top 10 30-Somethings Awards, which recognizes outstanding in-house counsel in their 30s. Experience in project management will allow the assistant editor to balance the various facets of the awards program and capitalize on its potential. Familiarity with ACC’s brand, along with an inquisitive mind, is necessary to understand the scope of ACC’s membership, which includes startups, small nonprofits, and global Fortune 500 organizations, as well as the issues they face.
