The Policy & Economics Division of the Association of American Railroads is inviting applications for the Data Science Fellowship for the year 2024-2025. The fellowship offers data enthusiasts a chance to contribute significantly to developing workflows and tools for supporting various projects across the railroad industry and its regulatory landscape. The project focuses on data migration and workflow automation, directly impacting our freight railroad members. Fellows will play a pivotal role in driving key data transformation and enterprise design initiatives within the division, primarily focusing on streamlining the extraction of data from various source systems and transforming it into a format suitable for analysis.
The selected candidate will collaborate closely with industry experts and economists to understand data relationships and develop strategies for efficient data extraction, transformation, and loading. Your primary responsibilities will involve leading the development of processes to transfer unstructured data from various sources to an Azure Database, enabling better accessibility and scalability. Furthermore, you will apply your expertise to write code for workflow automation, specifically focusing on automating our report generation process. Moreover, fellows will be tasked with writing and optimizing SQL queries for efficient data retrieval and manipulation, as well as assisting in the development, testing, and maintenance of data pipelines.
