Direct Support Professional- CDS Lead

We are looking for a Direct Support Professionals Community Day Services (CDS) lead in Aurora, IL  who exemplify that mission, and who want to work for an organization that makes a difference. What will you be doing?

• The Direct support professional for the community day service (CDS) lead will be assigned to directly support clients who have identified, specialized medical support need or Behavior Support need.
• The Direct support professional will be responsible to plan and facilitate meaningful and engaging programming activities under the direction and framework set by the Director of Program Development, Program Manager, Director, or designee
• In charge of implementing the goals/objectives/outcomes/supports identified in the person’s Implementation Strategy, Personal Plan, Individualized Schedule, and Behavior Support Strategies. 
• Responsible for the accuracy and quality of all assigned sub-contract work performed, if assigned
• Maintain all applicable documentation, records, and reports related to provided services and supports

What will you bring to the table?

• High School/GED Required and a minimum of one year of experience working with intellectual disabilities preferred 
• An Associate’s Degree in a Human Service Area and three years paid full-time experience working directly with individuals with intellectual disabilities or other developmental disabilities - OR
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Human Service area and one-year full-time experience working directly with individuals with intellectual disabilities or other developmental disabilities.
• Completion of DHS-approved DSP training and included on the Illinois Health Care Worker registry preferred

What are the other requirements?

• Significant walking and standing daily, with occasional running for short periods of time
• Ability to push, pull, reach, stoop, and bend
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to assist individuals with their physical needs and personal care, including two-person lift or transfer, with no physical or medical restrictions
• Must be able to intervene physically using applied CPI techniques and/or restraints after training, with no physical or medial restrictions
