Description

POSITION SUMMARY

Provide staffing support for ARCs licensed school-age and preschool programs at multiple locations, offering a high-quality child-care experience for children ages 3-12 according to the philosophies, policies, and procedures of the organization.

Must demonstrate the ability to always maintain confidentiality, handle personnel matters effectively, and handle employee and public personnel inquiries with sensitivity, tact and diplomacy. Understanding of, sensitivity to and respect for the diverse populations at ARC and the community ARC serves.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Staffing Support

  • Promote and incorporate ARCs mission and vision in all duties and in the community;
  • Maintain a safe environment for children by following state licensing standards, keeping facilities hazard-free, ensuring equipment and play spaces are in working order, and being aware of potential threats to safety;
  • Actively engage with and supervise children ensuring they are always within visual and auditory range;
  • Create an environment that encourages exploration, active learning, and play by providing opportunities for children to interact with a variety of learning stations;
  • Occasionally plan and execute developmentally appropriate activities and curriculum for the children;
  • Teach and develop positive social behaviors in children that nurtures peer-to-peer relationship building. Support positive behavior reinforcement using best practices and redirection;
  • Develop and maintain professional and positive relationships with families.
  • Prepare and serve daily meals and snacks if needed;
  • Interact with supervisor and co-workers in a professional and respectful manner.;
  • Promote team work and collaboration among ARC staff.

Administrative/Operations

  • Keep notes and observations on individual children when needed;
  • Follow child tracking and search procedures;
  • Be aware of individual child allergies/restrictions, medical needs, authorized pick-ups;
  • Document accidents, illnesses, incidents, and administered medications on the required forms immediately after occurrence;
  • Attend staff meetings and trainings as required by ARC and state licensing to keep current of new developments in out-of-school time care and state regulations;
  • Ensure that all information regarding children, families, and staff is kept confidential. Sharing of information is prohibited;
  • Follow all state licensing rules and regulations, and ARCs policies and procedures;
  • Report suspected incidents of abuse and neglect as required by Washington State Law;
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary environment by performing daily cleaning duties. These duties may include washing dishes, cleaning restrooms, mopping/vacuuming floors, sanitizing surfaces, taking trash out;
  • Provide occasional administrative support.

POSITION TYPE |EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a full-time position; days and hours of work vary depending on program needs. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Schedule varies depending on site and time of year.

PAYL

Starting Salary Range: $23.00-23.86/hr
Full Salary Range: $23.00-$26.45/hr

EDUCATION | EXPERIENCE

  • Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations, including the Washington State Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) licensed programs;
  • High school diploma or equivalency; BS/BA degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience; 1-year minimum experience working with licensed school-age and preschool.

OTHER ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid Washington State drivers license/insurance and personal vehicle
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must be flexible, adaptable and can take initiative
  • TB test (prior to start date)
  • Cleared portable background check (apply within 7 days of hire)
  • MMR vaccination record
  • 30 hours basic STARS training (complete within 90 days of hire)
  • First Aid and child/adult CPR certification (within 60 days of hire)
  • HIV/AIDS and annual BBP trainings (within 30 days of hire)
  • Annual disaster preparedness training (within 7 days if hire)
  • WA State food handlers permit (within 30 days)
  • Complete ARCs orientation (within 7 days of hire)
  • COVID-19 Vaccination Required
