Pokémon Club Instructor (Garfield Community Center)

The Associated Recreation Council (ARC) in partnership with Seattle Parks and Recreation is recruiting a Pokemon Instructor to lead various Pokémon and Strategy Game classes at Garfield Community Center. The Instructor will be responsible for leading, planning and managing a group of youth ages 6-12. The instructor will focus on teaching participants various gaming skills, particularly relating to the Pokemon Trading Card Game. This position will be also responsible for creating a fun and creative environment for participants. A passion for teaching is a must!

Camp Schedule:

  • Start Date 4/18 
  • Thursdays 4:30-6:30pm
  • We are looking for someone to run a 6-week class. The class is scheduled to run in April and May, Thursdays from about 4:30-6pm. We’ll likely want to bring this same person on to teach pokemon summer camps if they are available.

Pokemon Instructor duties and responsibilities include:

  • Develop and deliver developmentally appropriate activity camp lesson plans/activities related to Pokemon and the Pokemon TCG to kids ages 6-12 with support from the Activity Camp Supervisor
  • Use critical thinking to problem-solve and manage conflict
  • Generate supply lists for each camp; there will be some class supply funds available
  • Maintain camp appropriate professional appearance
  • Daily set-up, take down and cleaning of space

Art Instructor requirements include:

  • Experience playing the Pokemon Trading Card game and basic understanding of the Pokemon universe
  • Must be 16 years of age or older
  • 2 years prior experience with Children
  • Prior youth programming experience required

Pay:

  • $24.50-$26.50/hr
