GENERAL INTRODUCTION:

The Archbishop is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the particular Church entrusted to him. In a unique and visible way, he makes Christ’s mission present and enduring as Shepherd of the Christian Community. In order to fulfill his mission, the Archbishop employs suitable, chosen collaborators (clerics, religious, or lay people). He shares with them the apostolic mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them. (Directory on the Pastoral Ministry of Bishops, 198) Each position employed in Associated Catholic Cemeteries helps to extend the ministry of the Archbishop in particular ways as outlined in the position description.

GENERAL SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL PURPOSE:

The Family Service Advisor embodies the compassionate ministry of Associated Catholic Cemeteries, serving as a bridge between families in mourning and the timeless traditions of our Catholic faith. Rooted in the teachings of Christ and guided by the principles of stewardship and compassion, this role delicately balances pastoral care with the practicalities of burial arrangements. The Family Service Advisor facilitates meaningful conversations around the sacred act of pre-planning as well as handling burial arrangements and designing memorials with sensitivity and reverence.

ESSENTIAL POSITION DUTIES:

1. Assists families in the cemetery office during the arrangement time for the burial of the deceased and follows up to set appointments in the office with Family Service Program materials. Incumbent accomplishes this by following established policies and procedures for at-need arrangements, personalizing the Family Service Program materials, setting in office appointments, making presentations, obtaining referrals, and following up with families.

2. Exhibits thorough knowledge of the products and services of Associated Catholic Cemeteries and the theology and history of the Catholic burial tradition. Incumbent accomplishes this by being fully versed about all information concerning products and services, the Catholic burial tradition, and integrating this knowledge into the presentations made to families.

3. Makes personal sales to meet ACC revenue needs. The incumbent accomplishes this by setting and meeting personal sales goals in meeting, as a minimum, sales requirements established by ACC.

4. Completes all necessary record keeping in a timely manner. Incumbent accomplishes this by completing in full all contracts, purchase related documents and other paperwork determined to be essential or necessary for the full implementation of the Family Service Program in a clear, legible, and timely manner.

5. Maintains Professional Appearance and Presence: Family Service Advisors are entrusted with upholding the sacred atmosphere and dignity of Associated Catholic Cemeteries through the maintenance of a professional appearance and demeanor.

6. The Family Service Advisor is expected to be readily available to greet families as they arrive for committal services, providing a warm and compassionate presence during this emotionally significant moment. Family Service Advisors are required to lead and direct committal services as needed.

7. Attends meetings for the purposes of evaluating performance, generating new ideas/leads and giving input to sales materials. Incumbent accomplishes this by actively participating in meetings, sharing new ideas and giving input to sales materials and assisting where needed.

8. Is available to work and actively participate in all position related job functions. Incumbent accomplishes this by engaging in regular and dependable attendance on the job including arriving to work on time, by being ready to work when the shift begins, taking rest breaks and meal periods as required by ACC policy, and remaining on the job until the scheduled work shift is over.

9. Cultivates a Positive Image and Enhances Public Relations for ACC: The incumbent plays a pivotal role in fostering a positive perception of ACC by consistently projecting its values and mission in all interactions with the public. Through embodying professionalism, empathy, and integrity, the incumbent contributes to the establishment of trust and goodwill among the diverse stakeholders served by ACC.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Primary:

a. Willingness and ability to support the mission of the Church by extending the ministry of the Archbishop.

b. Ability and desire to use God-given gifts and talents in service of the local Church in support of the collaboration between lay and ordained Ministers.

2. Education:

a. High School/GED.

3. Experience:

a. 3 years sales experience (cemetery preferred)

4. Other Elements:

a. Working knowledge of the Catholic Church and the Catholic burial tradition (preferred)

b. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

c. Valid Washington State driver’s license and automobile insurance.

d. Personal vehicle.
