Assistance Plus is Hiring a Peer Recovery Coach Near Winslow, ME

The Peer Recovery Coach is an individual who is in recovery from substance use disorder and who is willing to self-identify on this basis with OHH members. Their life experience and recovery allow them to provide recovery support in such way that others can benefit from their experience.

This is a part time position, 20 hours per week.

Because the Peer Recovery Coach will occasionally drive to a client’s home in order to provide services, proof of vehicle insurance at $50K/$100K and a valid Maine driver’s license are required.

Duties include and are not limited to:

  • Identifying individual needs for peer supports through interaction with the OHH team and clients.
  • Providing individual and group peer support to OHH team clients.
  • Acting as a peer role model, demonstrating effective interpersonal communications and community integration strategies.
  • Assisting clients with understanding their rights and responsibilities as recipients of substance use and co-occurring use disorder services
  • Networking with current programs and advocating for new opportunities for client in community supports, programs, and activities of their choice
  • Assisting clients with understanding their experience of substance use disorder(s) and co- occurring mental health issues through shared common experience as peers
  • Understanding and actively supporting the mission of the OHH model, the client directed outcome informed client model, and the principles of recovery
  • Providing a unique perspective as a participating member of the OHH, helping staff to understand substance use disorders through the client experience
  • Attending and actively participating in all OHH staff and team meetings and supervisions
  • Assisting clients with transportation in conjunction with the goals on their ISP
  • Accepting and following through on guidance for professional growth and performance improvement in clinical and administrative supervisions
  • Attending all Agency required trainings and meetings
  • Understanding and following Agency and department policies and procedures
  • Completing and submitting accurate and timely reports
  • Functioning in a cost-effective manner with regard to utilization of time, mileage, and job- related expenses
  • Providing added individual and program consultations around any area in which you demonstrate special expertise
  • Maintaining strict confidentiality of all client-related and staff-related information
  • Participating in required and elective staff development activities in accord with the individual staff development plan
  • Consistently adheres to Federal, State, and local statues and regulations
  • Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements:

  • Proof of vehicle insurance at $50K/$100K and a valid Maine drivers license are required
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Self-identified individual who is in long-term recovery (18 months minimum) from a substance use disorder
  • Peer Recovery Coach certification within 1 year of hire
  • Intermediate level computer experience
