Assistance Dogs of the West is Hiring a Kennel Technician Near Santa Fe, NM

Position Title: Kennel Manager

Position Type: Full time or Part-time, non-exempt

Compensation: Commensurate with Experience

Reports to: Lead Instructor/Trainer

Overall Summary

The Kennel Manager provides the care and basic needs of the canines that are located either full or part time at the ADW Training Center. The Kennel Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of the canine training facilities under the direct supervision of the Lead Instructor/Trainer. Responsibilities include cleaning of crates and runs, inside and outside training areas and proper feeding and care of all canines in the Training Center.

Essential Functions

The essential functions listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed; the omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to be completed by the position.

· Observe animal appearance and activity for general physical condition, obvious signs of illness, disease and discontent

· Provide strong leadership and supervision to Kennel Assistants

· Maintaining the Feeding log and schedule of all dogs at the center and feed according to the menus and schedules. As required, provide special food and liquids

· Rotate dogs to the various areas of the Training Center to ensure proper exercise, program training opportunities, rest time and socialization time with other dogs. Record names and times the dogs are in the various training center areas

· Administer medications as prescribed by the Veterinarian

· Clean, disinfect and maintain kennels, crates, training areas and interior and exterior spaces as often as necessary to ensure a safe environment and that no areas are soiled and odors are not apparent

· Participate in dog training classes to learn and maintain dog handling skills

· Flex Schedule

· Must be able to lift and move 50 lbs.
