ASRC Federal is Hiring an Emergency Management Specialist (supporting Air Force Research Lab) Near Edwards, CA

ASRC Federal, under the ASTROS contract, plays a pivotal role in advancing Propulsion Research across various domains. We are currently seeking an ASTROS Emergency Management Technician to bolster our emergency preparedness initiatives on-site. This role will involve proactive support in emergency preparedness and swift response coordination during incidents to uphold AFRL's readiness.
The Emergency Management Technician will be instrumental in ensuring comprehensive planning, organization, training, and documentation for test and facility support. They will serve as a key resource, ensuring that personnel are proficient in their roles within the AFRL emergency response plan.
Responsibilities
  • Assist in managing a dynamic contract spanning multiple sites engaged in testing or test build-up activities.
  • Conduct 100% monthly inspections of AFRL Emergency Management (EM) equipment and all lifesaving gear.
  • Monitor the operational status of Land Mobile Radios and ensure their functionality.
  • Provide oversight for the AFRL Weather system, including maintenance, inspections, repairs, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with Air Force customer personnel to ensure AFRL compliance with Air Force/DOD/OSHA standards.
  • Enhance AFRL readiness through site visits and response planning tailored to the HazMat present in each area.
  • Deliver training and instruction on Technical Rescue (confined space) and Hazardous Materials scenarios.

This position is offering a pay range of $70,000 - $105,000 depending on experience, seniority, geographic locations, and other factors permitted by law. Requirements
  • Ability to wear a Level A suit and operate a Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) required.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Federal, State, and Air Force (AF) Regulations essential.
  • Capable of lifting objects exceeding 30 pounds.
  • Knowledge and Experience in Emergency Management.
  • Intermediate knowledge and use of MS Office Tool Suite.
  • Ability to provide guidance to personnel not directly under your supervision.
  • Willingness to work in the field, conducting reviews and monitoring work efforts.
  • Review local Emergency Management plans, conduct inspections, and provide customer assistance.
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to deliver professional presentations to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain punctuality in attendance at the work site and in reporting information to the customer.
  • May be called upon to serve as a backup Site Operations Control Operator.
LICENSING, CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS Preferred
  • Must possess or be able to obtain the following certifications on the job within a reasonable timeframe and as required:
  • FEMA Independent Study (IS)-100, 200, 700, 775, 800
First Responder Operations HAZMAT CertificationHAZMAT Industry Technician CertificationTechnical Rescue (Confined Space Rescue)CPR and First Aid Training/certificationEducation/Experience
  • Proven experience in managing emergency and lifesaving equipment.
  • Minimum of 4 years of related experience and/or education.
  • Proficiency in technical writing.
  • Demonstrated professional growth in previous employment.
Additional Qualifications
  • Ability to drive a truck and safely tow a trailer.
  • Comfortable working at heights and depths.
  • Willingness to work overtime with short notice.
  • Ability to work in extreme heat and cold conditions.
Clearance
  • Must have or be able to obtain DoD SECRET security clearance.
