JOB SUMMARY

The Class A CDL Truck Driver/Operator facilitates the delivery of Builders Choice products and materials to customers. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Deliver products and material to customers.
• Inspect and maintain vehicle supplies and equipment, including gas, oil, water, tires, lights and brakes to ensure that vehicles are in proper working condition.
• Operate trucks mounted forklift delivery trucks, knuckle and standard boom trucks.
• Pull orders and load materials.
• Obey traffic laws and follow written and transportation procedures.
• Perform emergency repairs such as changing tires or installing light bulbs, fuses, chains and spark plugs.
• Responsible for routine maintenance and reporting mechanical problems encountered with vehicles.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• Strong knowledge, understanding and sensitivity to the Inupiat culture.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. 
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Must be able to take direction when working with co-workers and supervisors.
• Must have strong communication skills with both customers and co-workers.
• Ability to operate trucks mounted forklift delivery trucks, knuckle and standard boom trucks.
• Ability to work a varying schedule, including holidays and weekends. 

QUALIFICATIONS 

Required

• A valid driver’s license & commercial driver’s license Class A, with an acceptable driving record. 
• Air Brakes endorsement.
• Ability to meet safety requirements.
• Ability to obtain and maintain NCCCO Certification for Boom Truck Drivers, including rigging certification, preferred.
• Ability to meet and U.S. DOT FMCSA requirements for the position. 

Preferred 

• Experience in any one of the above CDL required trucks is preferred.
• Prior work experience as a delivery driver preferred.
• Forklift certification preferred.
• Prior experience with building material supply or wholesale supply preferred.
