Aspirus is seeking a BILLING CLERK. This individual process claims for transmission to third party payers. Reworks denied claims to secure payment.
This position will be on-site at Aspirus Ironwood Hospital in Ironwood, Michigan.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of basic accounting normally acquired through completion of a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of health insurance terminology and coverage issues.
- Ability to explain complex billing issues to questioning patients.
- Must pass math, typing, terminology for insurance billing and math problems for billing tests.
- Completion of a course in Health Insurance Billing OR 1-2 years of billing experience, hospital preferred.
Hours: This position is Full Time; 1.0 FTE or 80 hours per pay period.

Aspirus Ironwood Hospital includes a 25-bed critical access hospital, multi-specialty clinic, satellite clinic in Wisconsin, surgical clinic, walk-in clinic and a home health agency. Ironwood's service area covers approximately 30,000 people. The hospital has a 4 bed ICU, 3 bed OB unit, and 4 surgical units. The emergency department is staffed 24/7 with ER physicians, with approximately 12,000 visits annually. The hospital's inpatient census is 10 patients per day. The outpatient clinic has over 50,000 visits annually.
