JOB SUMMARY
The School Support Manager oversees behavior and academic support for students. This position manages this critical social/behavioral program by managing resources, evaluation of program expenditure, effectiveness of materials and supports used. The School Support Manager collaborates with lead teachers, administrators, teachers and families to increase the success of at-risk students and manage data including eligibility requirements, passing grade rate, attendance, tardies and behavior trends.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Develops, implements, manages and analyzes all behavioral support programs that build success for students both academically and socially; supports behavioral wellness in school culture.
  • Successfully coordinates and drives the MTSS tiers of intervention program for students.
  • Manages the Restorative Justice roll-out in the advisory group and for the entire school site
  • Collaborates with staff on implementing academic interventions in the general education classroom including; summer or break school, after school supports, office hours, and academic detention.
  • In coordination with the Dean of Students, as applicable, coordinates and leads roll-out of Restorative Justice Circles and Student Study Team meetings as well as guides restorative conversations between students, parents and teachers.
  • Ensures that individual student action plans are implemented and data gathered on the success of each intervention.
  • Initiates individual student incentive programs and implementation plans based on progress reports.
  • Develops resources to support student plans including toolkits to work with families on increasing student engagement and achievement.
  • Evaluates the success of school wide intervention programs by analyzing data and creating reports. Makes determinations regarding student enrollment for break school as applicable. Assesses appropriate data tracking methods along with ensuring findings are aligned with external compliance obligations.
  • Supports the work of building a school-wide culture that fosters cooperative relationships and responsibility that involves not only positive reinforcements but consequences for negative behavior.
  • Assigns, manages, and develops the advisory and safety team members including evaluation of performance.
  • Plans and facilitates social-emotional learning groups and education for scholars.
  • Serves as the main point of contact as needed when coordinating with contractors that provide behavior support services.
  • Participates in safety team efforts, traffic and lunch duty as needed

  • Demonstrate knowledge of, and support, the Aspire Public Schools mission, vision, value statements including antiracism, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Competencies:
  • Knowledge of effective conflict management and resolution strategies
  • Ability to creatively problem solve
  • Knowledge of curriculum development and assessment
  • Ability to effectively develop relationships across all levels and vary backgrounds and lead with initiative and take direction
  • Supervisory experience and ability to develop coach staff in developing leadership skills
  • Understanding of how to interpret and use data to support key decisions
  • Knowledge of Ed Code and other regulations
  • Computer skills including; MS Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and familiarity with data tracking systems such as OnCourse / Ruler
  • Knowledge of safety procedures
Minimum educational level:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field of study
Experience required:
  • 1 -3 years of experience working with urban youth in a school-setting
  • Experience with in or knowledge of youth empowerment programs

  1. Physical requirements:
  • Stand, walk or bend over, kneel, crouch, reach overhead, grasp, push, and pull. Move, lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds to shoulder height
  • Repetitive use of hands (i.e. fine manipulation, simple grasping, and power grasping)
  • Demonstrate normal depth perception
  • Sitting, walking or standing for extended periods of time
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, operate standard office equipment, and use a telephone
  • See and read a computer screen and printed matter with or without vision aids
  • Hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone with or without auditory aides

  1. Work authorization requirements:
  • Clear the Department of Justice background screening
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Provide health (TB) clearance (most update every four years)

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics are representative of those in a normal office, classroom/school setting which one might encounter while performing the essential functions of this job.
