Job Summary

  • The OR expert will bring specific academic training and work experience that makes him/her an expert in solving the exact kinds of forecasting and optimization challenges we are solving for scheduling. The role is accountable to ensure that the best models are applied to structure the work of the RM Analyst, the lead scoring team, and the data engineering team within Technology.

Essential Responsibilities 

  • Manages the development and implementation of revenue initiatives and decision support software that apply industrial engineering, operations research, statistical and machine learning techniques to solve critical business problems.

  • Individually responsible for the design, implementation, and performance of the Aspen Dental demand forecast and optimization system (RMS) and process.

  • Expected to leverage unique skillset within TAG to advice across all our brands with a focus on revenue management, scheduling, and other commercial areas as needed.

  • Will utilize ML techniques to automate the RM Analysts routine tasks to allow the team to scale in a sustainable way.

  • Liaisons with IT and other partners to deliver the whole solution if automation is required; as such, comprehensive business process understanding and demonstrated knowledge of partners are necessary components of the activities.

  • Regular communication and presentation to senior business leaders is required, with emphasis on visualization skill, quality, and timeliness.

  • Leverages extensive expertise of revenue and commercial initiatives to influence across the company, consult with key stakeholders, conduct ad hoc analysis, and promote revenue literacy within the company while elevating methodology used to optimize and measure profit.

  • Subject matter expert and thought leader for revenue measurement and valuation, acting as advisor and key point of contact between FP&A and the commercial / analytics teams to identify and implement measurement criteria, methodologies, and best practices.

  • Drives continual improvement and accuracy in allocation and measurement methodologies for revenue across the enterprise and between corporate entities.

  • Stays abreast of OR and RM industry and competitive trends. Uses those insights to ensure TAG maintains its competitive advantage in scheduling and RM.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (M. S., Ph. D, or equivalent) in operations research, statistics, or a related quantitative field OR BS degree in operations research, statistics, or a related quantitative field plus 7 years of work experience in solving highly complex business problems. MBA preferred.

  • Subject matter expertise in Revenue Management. Experience with revenue/yield management principles and strategy, including inventory control and variable pricing for revenue optimization.

  • Demonstrable experience with customer segmentation, demand forecasting, and optimization (including overbooking) modeling. For example, a deep understanding of common Revenue Management techniques, such as: XGBoost, Expectation-Maximization, Monte Carlo Simulation, EMRSb, Bid Prices, and Integer Programming.

  • Excellent verbal/written communication and presentation skills. Proven ability to leverage business acumen and analytic capability to function as critical business partner with technical and non-technical leaders within the organization.

  • A strong track record of effectively leading/working with cross-functional teams, driving meaningful changes, and developing and mentoring others.

  • A self-starter comfortable with ambiguity, willingly takes the initiative, accepts responsibility, able to analyze complex data and summarize in a concise manner, and make meaningful business recommendations in a timely fashion.

  • Project Management preferred.

  • Knowledge of Healthcare or Airlineindustries preferred.
