ASME INTERNATIONAL is Hiring a S&C Project Engineer Near New York, NY

ASME helps the global engineering community develop solutions to real world challenges. Founded in 1880 as The American Society of Mechanical Engineers, ASME is a nonprofit professional organization that enables collaboration, knowledge sharing and skill development across all engineering disciplines, while promoting the vital role of the engineer in society. ASME codes and standards, publications, conferences, continuing education, and professional development programs provide a foundation for advancing technical knowledge and a safer world. From college students and early-career engineers to project managers, corporate executives, researchers, and academic leaders, ASME's members are as diverse as the engineering community itself.

We are currently looking for a Project Engineer in our Certification and Accreditation department.

In your role at ASME you will be responsible for contributing to the technical advancement and market relevance of ASME Standards and Certification products and services, including engineering standards and related conformity assessment programs used world-wide, as well as for the effective administration of a wide range of committees comprised of technical subject matter experts involved with the development and maintenance of ASME Standards and Certification products and services.

Responsibilities include administering the proceedings of committees comprised of volunteer members and the development and maintenance of personnel certification programs and technical standards, and the review of audit reports. Thus, the Project Engineer is accountable for timely issuance of the final product yet has no authority over the creation and approval of the technical content. Timely issuance of products such as developing and maintaining certification standards and related documentation, and development of questions and examination banks supports achieving Standards and Certification budget projections. Other responsibilities include the enforcement of requirements equitably for all stakeholders and providing for due process.

In addition, this role is responsible for assessment of market relevance of SES products and services, contributing to development and maintenance of S&C products from a technical basis, and providing administrative support to a wide range of committees comprised of volunteer technical experts. Recurring assessment of market relevance of products and services will determine the need for updating or sunsetting.

The position requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering or related science or additional equivalent experience, plus a minimum of 3 years of experience in standards and certification activity; or B.S. or B.A. degree in other than engineering or additional equivalent experience, plus a minimum of 5 years of experience in related industries. Implementation of a personnel certification program and experience with ISO 17024 preferred. Strong organizational, oral, and written communication skills required. Project management skills preferred. In addition, the candidate must be willing to travel domestically approximately 15% of the time.

ASME is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer. At ASME, we nurture an inclusive environment, and we encourage, support and celebrate diversity in the workplace. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment and will not be discriminated against on the basis of race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy), national origin, age, gender identity & expression, sexual orientation, genetic information, citizenship status, disability, or protected veteran, military status, or any other basis protected by law.

Our Equal Employment Opportunity policy pertains to every aspect of an individual’s relationship with the organization, including but not limited to recruitment, hiring, compensation, benefits, training and development, promotion, programs, and all other terms and conditions of employment.

Only those candidates selected for further consideration will be contacted.

Annual base salary may vary based on geographic location. New York metro salary range for this position is estimated to be between $84,100 – 90,000 per year.
