THE ORGANIZATION

Ashley Addiction Treatment was founded in 1983 by two visionaries, Father Joseph C. Martin and Mae Ashley Abraham. They knew the treatment of drug or alcohol addiction could be designed and effectively delivered in a holistic manner that compassionately considers the whole person and not just the disease. POSITION SUMMARY

The Alumni Family Services Therapist provides care to the identified social support system of patients and alumni through motivational counseling and assistance so they may better understand the disease process of alcoholism and chemical dependency, the relapse process, recovery, relapse prevention, and how it affects family members/significant others/support.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Facilitates the framework of services offered to Ashley patient’s identified social support, including coaching, films/videos and discussions, multi-family group psycho-educational sessions and one-on-one counseling.
• Provides education to the identified social support persons so that they may better understand chemical dependency and provide support for the patient.
• Documents attendance, progress, and participation.
• Develops and presents lectures to enhance the understanding of family issues as needed.
• Provides referrals to other continuing care services needed; maintains resource files for further referrals
• Facilitates virtual, reoccurring support groups for families of Ashley alumni
• Maintains regular communication with Assistant Director of Community Support Services regarding the engagement and participation of families of Ashley alumni.
• Communicates on a daily basis with the clinical inpatient counseling team on pertinent data relating to their respective patients.
• Participates in rounds, supervision, and treatment team meetings.

• Protect our patients’ personal health information by maintaining compliance with HIPAA and other relevant Ashley-related IT security regulations.

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

• At least a Master’s degree in human services.
• Required to have one of the following licensures in the state of Maryland: LCPC, LGPC, LMSW, LCMFT , or LCSW-C. Additional licensure in DC and Virginia preferred.
• Must have at least five years' experience in family counseling or equivalent.
• Must be able to speak and write clearly; must have excellent listening skills
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Outlook, Word and Excel.
• Able to interpret educational material, assessments, and treatment plans so that family members understand contents; able to probe and draw out thoughts, feelings, problems, concerns and fears of the patient's family
• Licensure & certifications appropriate in family therapy; CPR certified
