    JOB TITLE: Education Assistant INTERNAL ONLY; .469 FTE/3.75 hours per day; Probationary
    F.L.S.A. Non Exempt
    Assignment: Ashland Middle School
    Reports To: Principal

    JOB SUMMARY
    Assists teaching staff by performing instructional tasks with students in small groups and one-on-one settings, record keeping, and supervision. Performs duties with close supervision.
    Qualifications:
    • Two years of post-secondary study, or an associate’s (or higher) degree.
    • Willingness to work within a classroom to model and help develop positive learning experiences for children.
    • Must possess the ability to handle distractions and be flexible.
    • Must be 18 years of age or older.
    • Computer literacy preferred.
    • Spanish language skills strongly preferred.
    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    Essential duties of this position include the following. Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks. Other related duties may be assigned.
    1. Follows and maintains knowledge of applicable District policy(ies) and procedures.
    2. Assists students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments (reading, math and writing groups).
    3. Tests and evaluates students' abilities in math, writing, and reading and progress as directed by teacher.
    4. Assists staff with record keeping, copying, filing, grading assignments, data entry and taking attendance.
    5. Monitors and assists students as needed in the classroom, playground, locker rooms, bus duty and at meal times.
    6. Assists the teacher in developing educational materials (copying, typing, laminating, etc.).
    7. Follows prescribed daily schedule as outlined by the building administrator.
    8. Assists the teacher in the set-up and maintenance of the classroom, materials and supplies.
    9. Assists the teacher in scheduling appropriate meetings and completion of paperwork.
    10. Assists the teacher, when directed, in communicating with parents/guardians.
    11. Participates effectively at regular team meetings with teacher and other support staff using appropriate social skills.
    12. Maintains safe environment for students at all times.
    13. Reports safety, sanitary and fire hazards immediately to supervisor.
    14. Interacts thoughtfully and courteously with students, staff and parents and resolves conflict in a professional manner.
    15. Appropriately maintain and secure confidential records and inquiries.
    16. While working collaboratively with others, implements decisions within ASD established policies and procedures.
    17. Professionally represents the school and the District in interactions with parents, community, staff, and students and resolves conflict in a professional manner.
    18. Works collaboratively with District and building administrators and other department staff to provide reliable service to customers.
    19. Communicate clearly with coworkers and other staff.
    20. Participate as an effective team member.
    21. Provide impeccable customer service.
    22. Interacts thoughtfully and courteously with students, staff, administrators and parents and resolves conflict in a professional manner.
    23. Maintains appropriate certifications and training hours as required.
    24. Attends work regularly and is punctual.
