Ashby Lumber is Hiring a Receiving Supervisor (FT) Near Concord, CA

OBJECTIVES:
The Receiving Supervisor is responsible for the proper and efficient receiving of all products coming into Ashby Lumber and for the timely and organized placement of those items in their proper place in the facility. This requires the Receiving Manager to monitor and facilitate all aspects of a products’ movement from the moment of receiving to the moment of purchase. This position is also responsible for managing the people in the receiving department assuring all policies and procedures are followed. The Receiving Manager will lead by example to ensure high standards of communication, accountability, and customer service.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
SUPERVISORY:
  • Enforce and execute company policies and procedures to ensure smooth and consistent operations.
  • Manage, motivate, train, and develop the Receiving staff, according to company policies and employment laws.
  • Ensure company procedures are followed with regards to staff attendance, schedules, reviews, discipline, health, and safety, hiring, and firing.
  • Provide direction to Receiving staff regarding operational and procedural issues, which includes Receiving staff. Solve any individual or department problems as they arise.
  • Create a positive working environment that will build morale.
VENDORS:
  • Work with vendors on back orders, mis-ships, and product returns.
  • Provide feedback on vendor accuracy and promptness
  • Assure Ashby has proper notice on price increases and all our costs are correct.
  • Assist Accounts Payable on resolving billing and shipping errors
MERCHANDISING:
  • Responsible for merchandising all product in store
  • Work with Corporate Purchasing Manager to introduce new products
  • Work with Sales Manager to promote products through Sales Staff
  • Prep and organize all products in store so they are professionally displayed to our customers
RECEIVING:
  • Oversee the receiving department to ensure that all paperwork is properly handled, processed, and updated in a timely manner and rectify any errors promptly.
  • Oversight of the hardware order puller to ensure hardware orders for deliveries and will calls are pulled promptly and correctly.
  • Oversee special order and back stock areas to ensure products are properly stocked, organized, and tagged, and customer service is handled promptly, efficiently, and courteously.
  • Maintain all warehouses in an organized, clean, and impressive fashion.
  • Work with Sales and customers to get will calls and deliveries out soon after arrival
STOCKING:
  • Oversee stocking to ensure products coming in are properly processed, tagged, if needed, and stocked. Assure all shelves and peg hooks are fronted, faced, and clean.
  • Ensure the checking in of special-order merchandise is handled properly and efficiently.
  • Ensure backstock is put on shelves on a regular schedule. Keep backstock well labeled and safe from falls.
  • Help prioritize the activities of the department when any backlog occurs.
  • Assign and follow up on any special projects.
  • Maintain all aisles to be clean and free of carts or any obstacles.
PRICING:
  • Participate in the maintenance of a consistent program to update prices in conjunction with the other store to ensure an adequate GP is maintained on all items.
  • Keep abreast of pricing in other stores to keep competitive on price sensitive items.
  • Assist in variable pricing to accomplish the highest GP possible on non-sensitive items.
  • Make sure all price tags in store are correct and legible.
OTHER:
  • Walk the store daily, noting:
    • Empty pegs (follow up immediately, as needed); inform Purchasing.
    • Areas needing attention with regards to tidiness, merchandising, backtags (follow up with assignments as needed to bring to an acceptable level).
  • Learn computer and phone system functions necessary to do all tasks efficiently and accurately, including Eagle Functions and Excel.
  • Attend purchasing events or shows as needed.
  • Communicate with other departments to accomplish a smooth flow of information and coordination of activities.
  • Assign and follow up on any special projects to be accomplished by the department.
  • Attend meetings and contribute to company strategy and policy-making as required.
