Ascent Resources is Hiring a Data Scientist Near Oklahoma City, OK

Ascent Resources is seeking an experienced Data Scientist. This position is located in Oklahoma City and will report to the Director of Automation and Analytics.
The successful candidate will help enhance and streamline the data quality, analytics and reporting capabilities at Ascent. The Data Scientist will work hands-on with large data sets for analyzing, interpreting and aggregating data into compelling stories to support data-driven decisions. The Data Scientist will collaborate with many team members to bring actionable data and insights into the broader organization. The Data Scientist will be responsible for the design, development and delivery of analytic solutions to enable data-driven strategic decision-making resulting in cost savings, increased production and/or improved efficiencies.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
• Collaborate across the organization to provide expertise on best practices around analytics and data driven decisions
• Develop complex, ad hoc reporting and assist with routine reporting to establish queries for future use
• Conceptualize and design multi-system dashboards to provide proactive information and drive informed business decisions
• Analyze large data sets into clear and concise observations
• Help move the organization along the maturity curve towards predictive analytics
• Build predictive models and machine-learning algorithms
• Develop data visualizations through graphics and visualization software
• Collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders to gather and analyze needs and requirements
• Design and implement robust analytic and reporting solutions to support the identified needs
• Assess existing available data, identifying gaps, and collaborate with IT and business owners to develop approaches to closing the gaps
• Conduct analyses of the data, ranging from descriptive reports to statistical analyses to regression modeling
• Communicate complex technical subjects to technical and non-technical audiences
• Provide innovative solutions to complex issues
• Support efficient execution of operations
• Apply the latest technologies and methodologies in machine learning, data mining, and predictive analytics to correlate disparate datasets and events, and derive value

Minimum Requirements:

• Ability to manage time and organize work effectively
• Ability to work effectively in team atmosphere
• Ability to gather data from various systems
• Independent, curious, eager to tackle a wide variety of problems, and able to quickly develop knowledge and understanding of new domains and underlying data sources
• Experience as a project lead with cross-functional teams to develop innovative analytic approaches leveraging all available internal and external data sources
Education & Work Experience Required
Minimum Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, or equivalent
• 10 years of oil and gas experience
Preferred:
• SQL
• Snowflake experience
• Power BI experience
• Working knowledge of statistical methods
