For more information, visit www.ascentfunding.com.We’re looking for a Marketing Intern to join our team. The Marketing Intern will support the Demand Generation Marketing Team to execute campaigns, expand partnerships, and contribute to strategic initiatives through developing, growing, optimizing, and maintaining marketing channels. Responsibilities:
  • Support marketing campaigns for partners.
    • Propose marketing strategies and campaigns to promote Ascent’s programs (student loans) and benefits (scholarships, AscentUp, etc.) across partner sites, email, digital, and social platforms.
    • Develop new initiatives to engage students (college and high school) that raise awareness of Ascent products and ultimately drive student loan volume.
  • Help grow, manage, and maintain our network of affiliates and partnerships.
    • Support the CJ affiliate platform and Ascent’s Refer A Friend program by recruiting and vetting potential partners.
    • Develop monthly newsletters for partners and affiliates to engage them and secure more coverage for Ascent.
    • Conduct monthly audits of partners and affiliates to ensure accurate positioning of Ascent on partner sites and identify new opportunities to expand placements on partner sites.
    • Assist in business development initiatives for partners, student organizations through email, social posts, presentations, and more.
    • Assist business development with researching Credit Union prospects and other potential partners.
  • Manage competitive analysis research.
    • Research the competitive landscape, gather insights, and propose innovative strategies to keep Ascent ahead in the marketplace.
  • Assist with student-facing strategies and coordinate with the Ascent team to generate interest in our products and programs.
    • Research and recommend new benefits for students.
    • Make recommendations to expand existing benefits (i.e., Refer A Friend or Ascent Rewards).
Additional Information:
  • This internship will be hybrid with one day a week in the office in downtown San Diego (either on Tuesdays or Wednesdays depending on availability).
  • You will participate in training during the first two weeks to meet our team and gain a knowledge base to draw upon throughout the remainder of your internship and beyond.
  • Compensation – Interns receive a competitive salary of $17-$19.00 per hour. 
  • Experience with Executives:
    • At the end of the internship, the intern will develop a 30-minute pitch/presentation to Ascent Executives of one core idea for Ascent that they developed during the internship.
  • The Marketing Intern will report to the VP of Demand Generation and Partnerships.
Minimal Qualifications:
  • Must be available to work for at least 10 – 15 hours a week during business hours.
  • Must be available to work for at least 9 months.
  • Must be studying marketing, advertising/PR, communications, telecommunications, advertising art, web design, or equivalent relevant major.
  • Must have excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize in a changing environment.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Leadership qualities and potential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Internet Research and PowerPoint is required.
  • Experience in marketing with WordPress, Canva, Google Analytics, and social media is a plus.
  • Ability to learn other software programs.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
