GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

Under the supervision of the Operations Manager, the Dental Billing Supervisor is responsible for the overall accounts receivable of the dental department. The Dental Billing Supervisor will manage the dental billing department, which includes training of dental billers. The Dental Billing Supervisor prepares services rendered by clinic/mobile unit billing to multiple entities via electronic or hardcopy claim, reviews and resolves current day electronic rejected/invalid submissions for correction, review of all insurance denials and resolve any discrepancies, post payments/adjustments timely and accurately from insurance carriers and self-pay, and submit all claims to appropriate secondary carrier.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES

  • Hire, train, and manage Dental Billers
  • Maintain accurate and timely billing
  • Audit patient accounts for accuracy
  • Report to Operations Manager and Dental Director monthly on the status of overall dental accounts
  • Oversee and maintain accurate fee schedules
  • Perform accurate adjustments on patient accounts as needed
  • Complete insurance claim aging report every thirty days
  • Document statuses on a claim(s) in the system that require follow-up
  • Research and solve payment discrepancy and report them out to the Operations Manager
  • Communicates professionally and answers and responds to phone inquiries from Patients and Payers
  • Serves as a resource to staff, patients, and third party payer on billing issues
  • Search and download Payment remittance for Dental
  • Assist Patient Access Representatives in learning and understanding dental insurance
  • Post all insurance payments within Dentrix timely and accurately
  • Send billing statements monthly
  • Submit account refunds once all EOBs have been reviewed and account audited
  • Complete procedures not attached report daily
  • Process insurance claims which includes batch process, attachments, and submitting insurance claims daily
  • Perform other job duties as assigned

  • 90% of work will require some sort of physical activity to be performed. 
  • Employee will be required to travel from time to time and must be willing to work various shifts to accommodate needs of various sites.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in a professional office environment. According to the special event type, some work may be performed outside with varying temperatures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Three years of experience with Dental Accounts
  • Knowledge of CDT Coding Systems 
  • Knowledge of ADA Codes
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
  • Knowledge of dental insurance programs, coverage offered and third party reimbursement mechanisms, including Medicaid and Medicare
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts for posting payments/adjustments
  • Knowledge and understanding of insurance carrier(s) Explanation of Benefits for denial resolution
  • Knowledge of a dental electronic medical record system 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all patient relate information
  • Ability to multitask, work independently, work under pressure, and handle interruptions while maintaining flexibility in work assignments
  • Ability to communicate effectively and interact with diverse personalities while maintaining a professional attitude
  • Ability to ensure a high level of accuracy and attention on all assignments

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience working with Dentrix.
