AscendNet, Inc. is Hiring an IT Support Technician Near Waukesha, WI

Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled IT Support Specialist to join our team. As an IT specialist, you will be responsible for providing technical assistance and support to our customers. This role will help setup, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, network issues. The ideal candidate will be a confident self-starter, capable of navigating various IT challenges effectively. An excellent technician must have good technical knowledge and be able to communicate effectively to understand the problem and work to its resolution.

Duties:

  • Install, configure, and maintain computer systems, mobile devices, and peripherals.
  • Set up user accounts and permissions in accordance with company policies.
  • Assist with software installations and upgrades.
  • Respond to user inquiries and provide timely resolution of technical problems.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for hardware, software, network, and cloud issues to ensure smooth operations of our customers.
  • Basic technical support at the network level: WAN and LAN connectivity, routers, firewalls, and security.
  • Support will include Windows 10/11, Office 365, laptops, desktops, printers, mobile devices, and numerous in-house and commercial applications.
  • Use remote tools and diagnostic utilities to aid in resolving support requests.
  • Perform hands-on fixes at the desktop level when remote tools are not appropriate, including hardware repairs, delivery of peripherals, or other fixes as determined.
  • Document all support activities and maintain accurate records.
  • Collaborate with other IT team members to resolve complex issues.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technology trends and advancements.

Skills and Experience:

  • Strong knowledge of IT support principles and practices.
  • Strong technical support skills with proven ability to diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and networking issues.
  • Proficiency in desktop support, including Windows operating systems (Windows 10/11).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and familiar with other common business applications.
  • Experience with Microsoft Server operating systems and management.
  • Experience with the following Cloud technologies - Office365, Teams, Onedrive, and Sharepoint Online.
  • Familiarity with mobile devices (iOS, Android) and their troubleshooting.
  • Server administration via Active Directory, File & Print services, DNS, DHCP.
  • Understanding of Group Policy Objects (GPO) for user management.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work under moderate supervision.

Requirements:

  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented approach.
  • Strong communication skills for effective interactions with clients and team members.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility, a proactive and positive attitude, and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to provide on-call support on a rotational basis, including occasional weekend, emergency, and evening work.
  • 1-2 years of tech support experience.
  • 1-2 years of customer service experience.
  • Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred and/or at least two years of equivalent work experience. Previous experience in a similar IT support role is advantageous.
  • Relevant certifications a plus: Microsoft, A , Network , CCNA, are a plus.
  • Valid Driver License and ability to drive to customer locations when required.
