Ascend Nonprofit Solutions is Hiring a Smart Start of Mecklenburg County - Partnership Manager Near Charlotte, NC

General InformationOrganization OverviewSmart Start of Mecklenburg County (Smart Start or SSMC) is a Charlotte-based non-profit that funds local programs for children ages birth to five and their families. The organization is a catalyst for improving the lives of the 85,000 young children in our community, with a focus on health, family, early education, and literacy. We mobilize resources and forge partnerships to support evidence-based policies, practices, and programs to ensure all children enter kindergarten healthy and ready to succeed.
Smart Start has a budget of over $35 million comprised of funding from the state of North Carolina, Mecklenburg County, and private donations and grants. SSMC funds approximately 25 programs annually serving over 25,000 young children and their families and administers Mecklenburg County's MECK Pre-K program, which provides free Pre-K to children in the community. SSMC also operates programs and
campaigns internally, including Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, Guiding Parents to Services, Ready4K, and The Basics Mecklenburg. The organization is also the leader in research, data, convening and collaborating on issues related to children 0-5 in the Greater Charlotte area.
Position Summary
The Partnership Associate is responsible for providing support to the Partnership Manager, CEO, and other Leadership Team members as needed to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the organization. The Partnership Associate will assist in managing technical support for staff, process purchases, collaborate with staff teams. The position will offer specified assistance to each SSMC department - Finance, MECK Pre-K, Outreach, and Programs - designating time for each function and associated work activities.
Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesAdministrative & Finance Support
  • Greet and direct visitors and clients as they arrive at the SSMC office.
  • Provide assistance in the purchase order process for Leadership Team.
  • Assist in the preparation of All Staff and other team meetings.
  • Assist Partnership Manager in ordering, storing, and distributing office supplies.
  • Ensure the SSMC office and common areas are ready for use by staff and guests
  • As needed, provide support for IT and other technology initiatives for staff.
  • Assist with the tracking and maintenance of SSMC's required governance items.
  • As needed, prepare for board and committee meetings and related activities.
Program Support
  • Assist with quarterly monitoring activities.
  • Assist with administering and collecting data via surveys and other methods.
  • Oder supplies and coordinate assembly of The Basics Brain Bags.
  • Order supplies, apply SSMC branding, and assist with distribution of Little Library materials.
  • Coordinate with Program Team staff to prepare for roundtables, workgroups, and other collaborative initiatives.
  • Assist in researching and booking conferences and other professional development needs.
MECK Pre-K Support
  • Produce and coordinate classroom resources as requested by MECK Pre-K sites and teachers.
  • Greet families entering the office for MECK Pre-K registration , and connect with appropriate team members.
  • Provide logistical support for major program activities, such as Provider Welcome meeting, first day of MECK Pre-K, graduation events, and Smart Start to MECK Pre-K events.
  • Assist with the organization and deployment of materials needed by MECK Pre-K sites and teachers.
Outreach Support
  • Assist with coordinating materials, supplies, and staffing for Outreach events.
  • As needed, provide staff support to volunteer initiatives.
  • Assist with event preparation logistics, such as name tags, sign-in sheets, etc.
  • As needed, provide support to fundraising initiatives, such as database activities and distributing appeals and collateral materials.
Education, Experience, And Other Job Functions Experience and Experience Required for Position
  • Minimum of Associate's Degree in related field preferred but not required; 5 years of experience in office management, administrative support, or similar position
  • Capacity to accept and follow through on assigned responsibilities
  • Ability to express ideas, verbally and in writing, clearly and concisely
  • Ability to make decisions and take action within the boundaries of the position
  • Detail orientated and able to handle multiple tasks
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment
  • Ability to exercise discretion regarding confidential matters
  • Bilingual candidates are strongly preferred, but not required

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time exempt position, with some degree of flexibility, including limited remote work opportunities. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Location & TravelThis position is based in Mecklenburg County, with a minor amount of travel. Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
