The Ascend Learning Healthcare Segment leads the way in innovation and solution creation to improve outcomes and deliver results for students, educators, and healthcare workers in the ever-changing field of healthcare. We offer advanced resources that drive nursing success, empower front-line certified allied health workers, help physicians pass boards and stay current, and provide education management tools for medical education programs.

WHAT YOU'LL DO 

The psychometrician develops content, software products, tools and other assessment-based products including, but not limited to nursing, allied health, emergency services, fitness and many other student educational programs that educate, remediate, and certify students and professionals and other high-growth professions. The psychometrician conducts psychometric analyses in support of product development with the goal of ensuring the validity of scores provided to clients. In addition to operational psychometric work, the psychometrician designs and conducts efficacy and predictive validity research and other forms of research that bolster the utilization of our assessments. This will be a fully remote position with some travel required.

WHERE YOU’LL WORK 

This position will have the flexibility to work remotely within the United States.

HOW YOU’LL SPEND YOUR TIME

  • Provide psychometric/statistical analyses and interpretation of results using classical test theory, item response theory, equating, and standard setting methods to support product development.
  • Communicate technical psychometric concepts orally and in writing to all customer bases, including non-technical audiences.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to problem-solve and find solutions for product development and for client (internal and external) service issues.
  • Analyze, research, and propose solutions to current and future measurement problems, and communicate those solutions effectively.
  • Contribute to various research agendas that aim to improve fairness, validity, and efficacy in our assessments and learning products.
  • Document and disseminate research findings via presentations or publications.
  • Complete other tasks as assigned.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  • Doctorate in educational measurement, psychometrics, industrial/organizational psychology, or a closely related field required. 
  • 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience using statistical analysis software (e.g., SAS, R, WINSTEPS) is required.
  • Understanding of concepts central to psychometrics: classical test theory, item response theory, item analysis, differential item functioning, equating, and standard setting.
  • Understanding of concepts central to quantitative and qualitative research: survey analysis, descriptive statistics, survey design and analysis multiple regression, structural equation modeling, and longitudinal analysis
  • Ability to conduct routine operational psychometric analyses and manage psychometric quality control activities.
  • Proficiency in communicating technical research and psychometric concepts to non-technical audiences and analyze applied measurement problems and purpose solutions.
  • Excellent presentation, organizational, time management, customer service skills with attention to details and deadlines.
  • Contribute to manuscripts to publish in peer review journals.
  • Experience working with adult education organizations, certification programs, or within the health care industry is desirable.
