This position requires pulling lumber and other materials to prepare orders for customers or for shipping to one of our locations and sorting and racking lumber according to grade markings and size.

DUTIES:

• Pull materials from racks, units or other storage areas to prepare for pick up or shipping.
• Organize material in a manner to best ensure it arrives safe and undamaged.
• Band material to assure safe handling (forklift) and delivery.
• Remove lumber from units and place boards in rack, according to grade and length.
• Remove defective and/or damaged lumber from racks for cut-back.
• Assist customer with loading of lumber.
• Maintain good working relationship with customers, fellow employees and management.
• Maintain the appearance of the yard and racks in an orderly and clean manner focusing on his area.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
• Miscellaneous duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• Knowledge of lumber grades and uses a plus.
• Knowledge of methods of maintaining the racks/stacks.
• Qualified to drive forklift a plus.
• Sound math skills.
• Able to lift up to 90lbs.
• DOT preferred
• MUST HAVE A VALID DRIVERS LICENSE

Summary: Perform tasks involving physical labor at buildings, heavy construction projects, and demolition sites. May operate hand and power tools of all types.

Assist other craft workers including: trim carpenters, plasterers, operating engineers, and masons.
Load, unload, identify, and distribute building materials to the appropriate location according to project plans and specifications.
Qualifications :
Comprehensive knowledge of general construction and repair methods, and the proper utilization and care of tools, materials, and equipment used in building construction.
Comprehensive knowledge of traditional building materials, practices, and techniques
Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
Physical Demands:

May lift and carry heavy objects 5 -25 pounds frequently, 25- 50 pounds often, 50-100 pounds occasionally

Work at great heights, or outdoors in all weather conditions
Some jobs expose workers to harmful materials or chemicals, fumes, odors, loud noise, or dangerous machinery. To avoid injury, workers in these jobs wear safety clothing, such as gloves, hardhats
