Department: Nursing

Status: Full Time

Shift: Day 8am-4:30pm, includes every other weekend

Pay Rate: starting at $16/hr

What do I need as an Activities Assistant with Messiah Lifeways?

• Experience in recreation or related field (Human Services), preferred
• Experience working with older adults, preferred

What will I do as an Activities Assistant with Messiah Lifeways?

• Coordinates and conducts life activities, focusing on meaningful, resident preferred activities.
• Plans, organizes, and leads group and individualized age-appropriate programs, providing activities for residents who stay in their room and/or residents who are at a lower functional level, meeting Federal and State regulations.
• Attend and participate in the monthly resident council meeting.
• Plans intergenerational programs in conjunction with the U-GRO leaders.
• Motivates and assists residents to become part of neighborhood life if they choose so.
• Plans for and accompanies residents on trips outside of Messiah Lifeways and works cooperatively with the Transportation Coordinator to make transportation arrangements.
• Assists in the dining room and provides opportunities for socialization.
• Transports and/or assists residents to and from programs.
• Aware of the safety of residents and medical restrictions during all activities.
