ASARCO is Hiring a Sr. Corporate Environmental Manager Near Tucson, AZ

POSITION OVERVIEW:

ASARCO is looking for a dynamic and experienced Senior Corporate Environmental Manager to support environmental affairs across all ASARCO operations. As a company deeply rooted in the principles of caring for the environment, our employees, and our communities of interest, we are looking for an experienced environmental leader who shares our values. The main objective of this role is to be the champion for continual improvement in ASARCO’s environmental performance.

This position will report directly to the ASARCO Director of Environmental, Governmental, and Community Affairs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

·Develop and implement comprehensive environmental strategies designed to lead the operations execution of ASARCO's environmental policies, directives, and principles.

·Provide strategic direction and expert advice to the environmental teams at all the ASARCO operations.

·Collaborate with site leadership to proactively identify and manage environmental risks based on the ICMM and ISO 14001 framework.

·Negotiate solutions to environmental opportunities with operational leadership, governmental agencies, and other communities of interest as necessary.

·Manage the updating of conceptual closure plans while collaborating as appropriate with regulating agencies, local communities, environmental organizations, and industry partners.

·Responsible for developing and implementing strategies to enhance biodiversity and climate change programs that are aligned with ASARCO’s sustainability goals and commitments.

·Monitor, interpret and communicate summaries of new environmental regulatory requirements to assure operations continued legal compliance.

·Support all operations with the review of permit applications and modification of existing permits.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

·Participate in environmental compliance and environmental management system audits.

·Support environmental incident investigations and root cause analysis, so that corrective and preventive actions can be identified, communicated, and implemented.

·Provide support to operations on forecasting capital and annual budgets.

·Responsible for executing, supporting and enforcing the Company’s Environmental, Health and Safety program as required by OIS policy, directives and principles

·Other duties as assigned by the Director of Environmental, Governmental, and Community Affairs.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

·Advanced understanding of federal, state, and county environmental laws, administrative regulations, codes and permits.

·Project management experience, including planning, budgeting, and execution of environmental projects and initiatives.

·Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess environmental risks, identify opportunities for improvement, and drive results.

·Thorough understanding of ISO 14001 standards, environmental regulations, and best practices in environmental management systems.

·Knowledge of land use regulations and permitting processes.

·Knowledge of mining and milling processes.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

·Bachelor’s degree in environmental, biodiversity, sustainability, or other related discipline. A graduate degree is considered a strong asset.

·Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience with at least 5 years in leading environmental initiatives at a strategic level, preferably in a mining or chemical processing environment.
