Network Field Engineer
POSITION OVERVIEW
As a collaborator with the Senior Network Engineer, team members and stakeholders across departments, the network field engineer will be responsible for ensuring the integrity, quality and security of mine site networks on a daily basis.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Maintain a secure, stable and segregated network environment for Information systems (Servers, PCs, Wireless) as well as operational technology systems (PLCs, pump systyems, flow meters, etc.)
Implement new network changes under the guidance of the Senior Network Engineer including:
LAN
Routing
Switching
Physical Infrastructure
Create and maintain network documentation including maps, asset inventory and IP address management
Adhere to best-practices for network design and security
Submit change requests for proposed changes, and reviewing those submitted by peers and other stakeholders
Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Structured cabling (MMF, SMF, UTP cabling best practices, troubleshooting, installation, remediation)
Working knowledge of OSI and TCP/IP stack
Experience with Cisco Catalyst, SG, Ubiquiti platforms
Solid understanding of static routing, Spanning-Tree,
Familiarity with link aggregation
Working knowledge of 802.11 Wireless Networking (b/g/n/ac/ax)
Familiarity with Purdue model of network segregation
Proficiency with mapping tools such as:
AutoCAD
EkaHau
MS Visio
LucidChart
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
1-3 years experience in industrial or enterprise networking required
Proven ability to work safely required
Industry Standard networking certifications (Cisco, Palo Alto, Aruba, Arista, etc.) strongly preferred
Familiarity with Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco ASA preferred
Active Directory and Powershell preferred
Virtual storage solutions (VXRail, VMWare, etc.) preferred
900MHz radio solutions preferred
Python, git and other scripting tools preferred
Experience with SAN and WAN and SDWAN principles preferred
Experience in mining or industrial work environments strongly preferred
Experience with industrial networking protocols (profinet, modbus, etc.) preferred
