Middle School Counselor OVERVIEW: Arts in Action is looking for a counselor to join our counseling team for the 2022-2023 school year. This person will be responsible for providing individual and group counseling to students, maintaining appropriate records and paperwork, facilitating classroom visits/lessons, and collaborating with counseling and school team to ensure that the social emotional needs of our students are met. JOB DESCRIPTION: The School Counselor will work with the counseling and school team to help lead a school-wide approach to identifying, securing, and ensuring success for every child. The School Counselor ensures direct support for students, inclusion of parents through partnership, and the integration of services to children. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Provide advocacy, child welfare and counseling services to students, especially students with IEPs that have Designated Instructional Services (DIS) counseling goals and needs * Assess, identify, and provide group and individual counseling to students with emotional, social, and behavioral concerns within the general education students * Creating and maintaining student 504 Plans * Collaboration with the school counseling and instructional team to plan social emotional supports * Participation in the implementation of the Social Emotional Curriculum * Maintain an organized system of case notes and records utilizing Welligent and the School's Student Information System * Assist in the implementation of Restorative Justice practices (Harm Circles, Restorative Circles, creating equitable learning environments) * Participation in the development of school-wide initiatives, assemblies, and policies related to safety, violence prevention, and positive school culture * Maintaining frequent parent communication about relevant issues QUALIFICATIONS: * Masters in School Counseling * California PPS Credential * Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus but not required. WAGE AND BENEFITS: The salary for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience; in addition, we offer a competitive benefits package.
