Artisan Partners is Hiring a Middle Office Operations Analyst Near Milwaukee, WI

Artisan Partners is seeking a Middle Office Operations Analyst to be part of the team which handles post trade administration supporting equity and derivative trading, among other responsibilities. The Analyst will be primarily responsible for post-trade processing, exception handling, trade break and fail management, issue escalation and resolution for the European and Americas trading markets. This position will interact with internal resources including traders, technical liaisons, and senior management, as well as serve as daily contact and liaison to external service providers. This role will primarily support and align to the firm’s equity strategies while having opportunities to support the firm’s growth in private investments and derivatives processing.

Responsibilities

The candidate can expect to:

  • Administer the post-execution processing for securities transactions primarily in the European and Americas trading markets. Match, affirm and confirm securities transactions with custodians, fund administrators and executing brokers.
  • Setup and maintain system parameters, fee defaults, settlement cycles and related broker, client and custodian attributes to facilitate straight through securities post-trade processing.
  • Facilitate and monitor the daily trade file transmission, receipt and acknowledgements processes with external parties.
  • Review trade files for completeness, investigate and resolve trade breaks, or pending fails while escalating issues appropriately and work towards resolutions in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that trading counterparties reflect matching trade details in accordance with the firm’s books and records.
  • Support the firm’s global trading desks through participation in the team’s on call rotation, including some US holidays
  • Maintain proper supporting documentation related to trade processing to ensure compliance with market regulations and internal policies
  • Support securities conversions and registrations for publicly traded equities; facilitate communication of cost and timing with trading, receive and act upon instruction to convert from local shares to ADRs or vice versa, including communication with custodians, working to ensure the accounting system reflects conversions appropriately and working with the portfolio oversight team to manage appropriate trading restrictions on position quantities.
  • Support securities conversions for private investments, including communication with custodians and prime brokers to instruct the recording of transactions, monitoring upcoming activities related to securities conversions and then working through the final stages to convert shares to be freely traded

Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Additionally, the ideal candidate will possess:

  • 3-5 years investment management industry experience or relevant experience in an operational or trade processing capacity preferred
  • Undergraduate degree in finance, economics or business
  • In depth knowledge and demonstrated experience in securities operations or trade processing, including global strategies; experience in derivative instruments a plus
  • Strong attention to detail required, high degree of client service
  • Excellent communicator and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbal and written
  • Ability to handle fast-paced and high pressure situations and show a high degree of client service; highly organized, proactive and possesses strong follow-through
  • Proficiency in across the Microsoft 365 applications, particularly Excel; experience in Power Apps or Power Automate a plus
  • Experience with execution and order management systems (Charles River preferred), trade matching platforms, portfolio or investment accounting systems, security master and reference data management preferred
