Job Summary:
Primarily responsible for providing effective customer service for all internal and external customers by utilizing excellent, in-depth knowledge of hospital admissions and outpatient services.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
·Interview patients to obtain insurance benefits, proof of coverage and pre-certification/authorization for inpatients, surgical patients, and required outpatients.
·Registers outpatients and prepares proper documentation for outpatient procedures where applicable.
·Processes inpatient admissions and prepares proper documentation for services where applicable.
·Accepts patient payments and records appropriately.
·Greet and assist patients and visitors in a manner consistent with Hospital customer service guidelines.
·Advise patients regarding insurance coverage and estimate patient’s responsibility.
·Inform patients of available sources of assistance from outside public and private agencies or refer the patient to a financial counselor.
·Obtain verification of insurance coverage and benefits payable from insurance companies or other third-party payers.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
·Perform other functions as required.
