Job Title: Summer Art Camp Assistant Teacher

Salary: $18-20 per hour (depending on experience)

Full Time: July 1st - August 30th (specific dates TBD but a minimum of 4 weeks availability is required) 8:30 - 5pm, Monday through Friday

About Us: Art Strong NYC is an art studio in Long Island City, Queens for children of all ages. Throughout the year we offer kids art classes, school break camps, birthday parties, after school programming and events for the whole family to make art together.

What we are looking for: We are looking for an Assistant Art Teacher for our Summer Art Camp who has experience working with children ages 4-10, has a friendly and positive attitude, works well as part of a team, takes initiative and is quick to lend a hand, and enjoys working in a fast paced environment. Experience in the arts and working with children in a camp or school setting is preferred.

Schedule: Applicants should be able to commit to at least 4 weeks of Summer Camp. Time commitment at minimum is from 8:30 - 3:30pm but depending on registration hours may extend until 5pm daily.

About the role: You would be the main Teacher’s Assistant throughout the camp day and would help to keep campers safe and engaged in arts activities while helping to maintain a clean and organized space.

Position Responsibilities:

• Assist in setting up before the campers arrive and cleanup at the end of each day.
• Prepping materials for the different art activities throughout the day.
• Helping students in small groups and one on one with their projects
• Assist in classroom management and handling behavior issues as they arise
• Setting up for different activities throughout the day
• Assisting in walking children to the park and monitoring outdoor play daily
• Keeping the studio organized and well maintained throughout the day/week

Qualifications:

• Friendly, positive attitude, and loves working with kids!
• Interested in the arts and/or has a art related background
• At least 2 years of experience working with children (preference to a camp of school setting)
• Enjoys working in a fast paced environment that is new each day!
