Art Advisor / Sales

Art of the World Gallery (AOTWG) is the leading contemporary art gallery in Houston, Texas. We create museum-scale exhibitions and experiences that make incredible art accessible to both seasoned and aspiring collectors. We represent some of the most influential living artists and masters of the 20th and 21st centuries from around the globe. We are known for developing dedicated relationships with renowned artists, acquiring the majority of inventory directly from them or their estates.
We are hiring for a full-time position Art Advisor highly personable and ambitious with proven sales. In this role, the candidate must like sales, being in contact with people, and always want to sell, sell, and sell more. For this, he should be a cheerful and communicative person who likes to interact and always be attentive to start a possible new sale.

Must be bilingual in Spanish and English. A background in art is a plus.

The monthly salary is $3,000 plus commission for each artwork sold.

The position hours are 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM from Monday to Friday. Candidate will occasionally need to work additional hours or weekends for special events, gallery openings or client tours.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES

  • 1-2 years of sales experience in a contemporary art gallery or high-end/luxury retail.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively and diplomatically with diverse groups of people.
  • Must be highly organized and self-motivated, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Advanced written and oral communication skills.
  • Time management skills and the ability to schedule social media posts, newsletters, and calendar listings so deadlines are met in a timely and organized manner.
  • Knowledge of engaging audiences and the general public with a welcoming, accessible approach.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel, Photoshop, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Core competence with all social media platforms.
  • High level of problem-solving and critical thinking.
  • Key commitment to discretion and confidentiality with sensitive information.
  • Spanish language skills required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Provide vision and leadership on implementing initiatives and a go-to-market strategy to expand revenue streams with the goal of meeting and exceeding sales targets.
  • Implementing new strategies for bringing new clients to the gallery.
  • Provide general administrative support and project management to the gallery.
  • Attending social events and openings, including pulling guest list from our database, tracking RSVP’s and more.
  • Ability to work in a multi-tasking, fast paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team.
  • Dynamic; able and willing to be flexible if changes arise.
  • Generate email campaigns/newsletters.
  • Strategically developing and implementing the editorial calendar for all distribution channels (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.)
  • Coordinating marketing, public relations, and communication to ensure brand consistency.

EDUCATION

Associate or bachelor’s degree in art, business, marketing, advertising, or communications is preferred.
