Responsibilities:
- Inspect and evaluate the environment, equipment and processes in working areas to ensure compliance with government safety regulations and industry standards. Primary goal is to protect employees, customers, and the environment.
- Identify potential hazards from safety or biologics
- Collect samples for analysis
- Recommend solutions to safety hazards to protect workers
- Educate employees on how to prevent health and safety problems through safety training
- Investigate accidents to identify causes and find ways to prevent in the future
- Participate in new material reviews as a member of the material review board to approve or reject use of materials
- Assure proper personal protection equipment is specified and used
- Issue, maintain, and/or revise Job Safety Analysis documents
- Strong background and knowledge of permitting and reporting regarding environmental factors and regulations
- Review, maintain, and/or revise required MSDS/SDS files (using outside consultants as required)
- Chair safety committee meetings
- Responsible for facility environmental reporting in connection with all applicable laws and regulations
- Recommend measures to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials.
- Provide new employee health and safety orientations; develop materials for these presentations
- Inspect and evaluate workplace environments, equipment, and practices in order to ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations
- Inspect specified areas to ensure the presence of fire prevention equipment, safety equipment and first aid supplies
- Collaborate with others to institute control and remedial measures for hazardous and potentially hazardous conditions or equipment
- Coordinate CPR and related first-responder training
- Partner with HR to report any work-related injuries/illnesses in a timely manner
- Bachelor's Degree plus at least 5 years' industrial health, safety and environmental management experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Advanced computer skills to enable report-writing and metrics reporting
