Sanitation Technician

Salary Range: $20-$22 per hour, depending on experience.

Darwin’s Natural Pet Products have a new full-time opportunity on our Graveyard Sanitation Team. We are looking for team members who want to join our mission to help pets and their owners enjoy more years of healthy companionship together. 

Darwin’s Natural Pet Products makes high quality, premium raw dog and cat food and delivers it directly to pet owners around the U.S. Our growing business started 17 years ago and is a combination of both manufacturing and direct-to-consumer retailing with a strong online subscription focus. This position is at our Tukwila plant and is conveniently located near Metro bus stops.

 Essential Duties of Sanitation Technicians:

  • Clean and sanitize production room floor by removing garbage and cardboard and taking it to the receptacles outside.
  • Clean and sanitize all production machinery and countertops.
  • Follow all food and safety regulations and procedures required by Darwin’s SOPs and FDA regulations to meet customer’s expectations for safe and quality pet food products.
  • Prepare production sanitizing buckets for the following day.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and safety of warehouse floors by removing any cardboard, garbage, or obstructions.
  • Clean and straighten locker room including maintaining an orderly stock of clean gowns.
  • Clean and prepare all sanitation related equipment for the next day’s usage. 
  • Work with the grounds keeping team, when necessary, to remove debris, leaves, snow and other obstructions from parking lot and front/sides of building.
  • Dust, vacuum, sweep, mop, and empty trash in office areas, conference rooms, and lobby daily.
  • Clean restrooms daily and restock supplies when needed.
  • Report any maintenance, safety or quality concerns in a timely manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.

It’s a Plus, but Not Required:

  • Prior Experience working in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the food industry.
  • Practical knowledge of food safety, FDA regulations, and HACCP.
  • FSMA Certification or a Food Handler’s card.
  • Prior janitorial experience in an industrial/manufacturing setting.
  • Basic Knowledge of cleaning chemicals.
  • Ability to operate a forklift or willingness to learn.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Standing for long periods of time.
  • Lifting up to 50lbs consistently throughout shift. 
  • Continuous exposure to humid and cold environments down to 37 degrees F.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, push, pull, squat, bend, twist, and reach during shifts.

Salary Range: $20-$22 per hour, depending on experience.
